WANTED:   Murray middleweight men's tank posted by: Steve H. on 9/19/2003 at 3:30:19 PM
I'm looking for a men's murray middleweight tank for the FLEETLINE or the STRATOFLITE models, used from about 1959 to 1961? This tank is all chrome and had a horn, with two headlights that stick out on the top with a bracket riveted to the top of either side of the tank. I'll take one in any condition, with or without the headlights or the horn. Also, I have a Schwinn Panther 2 or 3 tank that I'd trade it for!

MIDDLEWEIGHT:   Schwinn model ????? posted by: Frank on 9/19/2003 at 6:52:01 AM
I dusted off my old bike my folks gave me 49 years ago.I,m at the age now that I need the exercise for my heart. Please help me to identify my old schwinn.Serial number P09295.the tires are 26 and 3\4,s but they are not originals. She has stainless steel fenders. The frame is green with a two toned white and green seat. She is a 3-speed with an internal hub transmission. The bike also has hand brakes but no pedal brake. There is also a spring like holder for packages mounted over the front fender.Except for Schwinn there is no other name on her.The 3-speed on the handle bar say,s Sturmey Archer and the rear hub
has Austria stamped on it.I haven't seen the bike in so many years I can't remember the model name if it even had one.Perhaps someone out there can help me. P.S. she's in great shape.Heated basements can do that. Thanks Frank

well it sounds to me like a 54 Jaguar, and its worth a WHOLE LOT OF MONEY. dont be duped out of it. is pretty much the top of the heap. stainless fenders give it away. should have a date in monthy and year code like this 5 55 on the hub, bike will be 30 days newer. that is the date of my 55 schwinn witha build date of 6 55. look on hte rims i bet they have a single knurle with S2 stamped in them. probably one of the more collectible models of the 50s short of th Phantoms.

Does anyone know anything about the Huffy Belair Women's bikes? I have one that may be from about 1960, but I can find no info on it in books or the net, not even through Huffy, the company that made it! I am cleaning mine up, but I'd really like to see a pict. of one in like-new shape. Thanks!

BALLOON:   What is the deal?? posted by: nexis on 9/17/2003 at 6:35:22 AM
Ok maybe I got excited, but I did it. I got a old frame. Problem is I didnt pay much attention when I bought. While I was buying, the guy at the shop told it was a nice 60's schwinn 26". I gave him the money, he gave me a receipt. Now I get home, look up the serial number and two things distrub me.
One. The serial number is as follows, C, but there appears to be a Y in the same place, then E followed by two 7's, but again it looks like TT was stamped in the 77 spot. From thereon it is straight forward with only 380. So it looks like CE77380 or YEtt380, your thoughts please
Two. I still cant ID it.
Has anyone seen this?
Thanks
Brian
