I have an old Schwinn balloon tire bike.
It has one of those "hairpin" seats. (I think that is how I have seen them described.) The hub has a 36-15 on it. Does this mean anything? How can I determine how old it is?
I have pictures.
the serial chart is at this web site. it can be found in one of three places usually. first under the bike on the "bottom bracket" (where the crank goes). second on the left rear "drop-out" (where the rear wheel goes). third on the "head tube" (where the fork goes through the frame)next to the "head badge". this is also the order of age. bottom bracket oldest----head tube newest. Go by the #s on the chart to find the exact year. Hope this helps.

I'm ecstatic about having won it but now I'm going to need lots of info and quite a few specific parts. if anyone has any input or can offer help with this bike or has parts please let me know.|

Hi i was wondering what sort of range one should expect to pay for either of these reproductions. I have recently become crazy about vintage bikes! I want a clean vintage bike but have no tools or shop to do a restore at this time so am looking at one of these or possibly a Deluxe 7. Any info or advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I'm posting the note for good friend Jason Cloutier with regard to the afformentioned Boston Swap Meet.
Thank you, Peter Naiman
The organizer of the Boston Swap Meet at Hibernian Hall, 151 Watertown Street., Watertown, MA has cancelled the plaaned swap since there were not sufficient pre-registered sellers to cover costs, she cannot afford to go ahead with the event. I know that there are some out-of-town people who were planning on travelling to Boston for the weekend to attend both the swap meet and the Larz show. Rather than abandon the swap meet, I would like to try to make it happen.
Since the efforts to resurrect the Boston Bike Swap
have failed, I am inviting anybody that is interested
to stop by for a bicycle yard sale this weekend here
at my house. I should be available both Saturday and
Sunday. I have the inventory of two closed bike shops
and an accululation of stuff collected during the 16
years that I have lived here. The swap meet will be for CR and Bob List members only.
I live in the northeast corner of Rhode Island, only 1
mile from I-95. Please contact me off-list for
