AGE / VALUE:   Elgin 1931-1940 posted by: Kenny Boren on 6/3/2006 at 4:18:00 PM
On the picture data base, the 9th picture down is an Elgin which appears similar to mine but 'Oh so much nicer'. My question is what is the year and the model of this Elgin and if possible what is the potential restored value of said bike?

The serial number looks like 1960.
You can only tell the year from the serial number of a Schwinn. They don't code model or any other information in the serial number.

Actually the letter code of the serial# stands for the month frame was made; the 'G' means that your cruiser was made in July of '60. Another tip: Schwinn never used 'I' & 'O' letters in their serial# system because of the numbers '1' & '0'.

If the serial number is on the bottom of the hanger it's not going to be a 60's

I am looking for any information about Fleetwing bicycles from the 30's? I picked one up and was wondering about it's value, etc. It's exactly the same as the one in the picture database. Thanks, H

AGE / VALUE:   need info on vintage red , white and blue CCM men's bike posted by: Barb Hansen on 5/31/2006 at 2:07:59 AM
In purchasing a vintage bike to display flowers , I happened to purchase a wonderful vintage red, white and blue Canada Cycle and Motor Co , Ltd bike . I have been able to find minimal info about the Co. in Weston , Ontario. Any guesses as how to find out model name , etc ? We haven't been able to find a model number yet. Haven't found any numbers on it , but it does seem to have what apprears to possibly be a Saint Chritopher's medallion attached to the frame , the original CCM decal on the frame and a Canada Cycle & Motor metal medallion attached to the front post. By pure accident , I found a beautiful piece of history from Ontario. If any one has any idea about obtaining more info as to the model ,etc. or more about vintage CCM bikes , I'd appreciate it.I have no intention to sell it , just want to appreciate the gem.
