Your serial number indicates a March 1960 production. The Tornado was produced from 1958-1961. If your bike is a Deluxe Tornado (with tank, light and rack) it will have more value.

BALLOON:   Trying to Identify a Shopper Bike from Memory posted by: Kelvin on 7/3/2007 at 1:45:14 PM
I thought I would see if anyone can help me identify the bike that my father bought for my mother in England in 1967, but then I had to ride to my (boys) school! Anyway, it was a small-wheeled shopper style bike. It was a purple metallic color and had very small wheels with fat white tires on it, 3 speed gears, and white rounded grips. Had a nice dynamo, and a shopping basket in front, platform at the back. Overall it was very 60-s in appearance, especially with the small wheels. I think they were maybe 16 inches. It was heavier than a Moulton. I vaguely recall that the logo was like the BSA Rifles logo, but I may be mistaken. Any ideas?

Or a Royal Enfield made Revelation. Go to Tony Hadlands website and look up the article called: Vic Bott and the Royal Enfield bike or it's under: Royal Enfield Revelation

Thanks for the tip. I looked at the article and photos, but my mum's bike had smaller wheels (I estimate 16" wheels) with fat tires on them. I'll keep looking.... Thanks again.

Serial numbers don't tell much. Maybe they will tell you the year if you know the brand.

Step 1) look in the picture database here to see if you can find a similar looking cycle.
Step 2) post pictures of your cycle here

If your rims are stamped "S7", you need to have tires made specifically for that rim. They are 26 x 1 3/4 NOT 1.75. Schwinn rims stamped "S2" take regular 26 x 2.125 tires.
