I just picked up this little jewel at a roadside sale. They must have had a lot of extra gold paint! Anyway, I had no idea what it might be until I took a few pics and noticed some letters under the paint. A little laquer thiner and it produced SIMPLEX. I can't find any info at all on Simple bicycles, just Simplex Servis and derailleurs. Anyone?
I looking for pictures of the pages in this book:Collectable Schwinn Sting-Ray Bicycles: 1963 1/2 - 1979. I am looking for the 1964-1970 pages of the sales prices of all the bikes? Please.
I'd like to help you, but that would mean scanning 40 some pages. If you could narrow it down some I might be able to help.
Oops, I misread your request. The pages with the sale prices would be only 7 pages. However, I have been informed that it would be a violation of copyright laws to copy these.
Honestly I just need all those pages because I want all of the information on the hollywood. The 26" regular,deluxe,24" models and the 20 inch models. Gordon if you want to do it that way thats fine. I just need that info. I heard it gave good info. Please
I've got an old 26" Schwinn boys bike I am trying to date and identify. The serial number stamped on the bottom of the crank case is D21085. It has full fenders, teardrop headlight, rear rack w/light, 2 front bars, spring loaded seat, and the Schwinn Planes & Trains head badge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
The Schwinn factory suffered a fire in 1948 and serial number records before August of 1948 were lost. However, in 8/48 they were using "D9xxxx" serial numbers, and I would be willing to guess that your bike was built early in 1948. The model appears to be a B607 Deluxe Autocycle that is missing the tank.
I am looking for information on the schwinn hollywood. I was wondering what years were they in the special color,white/rose and blue/white. Now I know that i asked this question before but nobodys talkin!! Does anybody know anything or have books on this matter. Any info would help. Thanks
Please don't think I am being a smart a#*. SORRY
This may be of very little help, but it might be better than nothing. The first catalog listing for the Hollywood that I can find is 1957 and the description is: Unequipped girls model, pastel colors, whitewall tires, white saddle. The listing in 1958 was exactly the same as 57.!959 and 1960 lists the Hollywood but no description. No listing for 1961. 1962 it says Hollywood (FB) and the (FB)might be the colors offered. 1962 it was Hollywood (FB,WR)and automatic 2-speed only. WR might be white and rose? 1964 and 1965 were the same as 63 except colors were (RB,WR). That's as far as my info goes.
I have a "B" and a "C", both 24" and white/rose. They seem identical.
White frame with rose decals/pinstriping, rose chainguard with white decals/pinstriping, white fenders with rose pinstripes, white rims (24 x 1 1/4) with black pinstripes, rose and white "S" seat, white handgrips, single red stripe Bendix hub.
Hope this helps.
Veronica, they are 24 inch rims? They should be 26 inch rims. Plus I would like to see pics, maybe I buy them off you?
I just bought this fantastic racing green Schwinn today. I am in love with it - but am desperate to find out what year it was made and what "style" it is.
The serial number is under the crank and appears to be
