I have recently purchased a 1944 Roadmaster Deluxe. It needs some TLC. I am looking for someone in the Raleigh area. Any advice on who could help. Also any suggestions on new tires and where to get em would be greatly appreciated!

Any chance that could be Pope and not Rope? I believe Columbia and Pope are somehow tied together in the bike building industry.

Pope model numbers are in numerical order, a model 49 would be very early, around the turn of the century. The components you discribe are MUCh newer. You may have a very early frame that has been recently modified with incorrect parts. Post a picture.

As noted above, you don't have the original wheels, but it should still be of interest to a collector. You could contact the Wheelmen, or Copake Auctions and see what they think.

Quick question: does anyone here know if a prewar "Rollfast" stem will fit a prewar Schwinn balloon tire bicycle?
