I can't find a set of bars made today that are large enough for me. I'm looking to buy a set of nickel plated v-bars in xlnt to NOS condition. They *must* be authentic Redline of '77-'78 vintage, and have the little oval Redline sticker on them.

I found my old VDC with hutch hubs and bars in the closet. A few years ago I tried to get a new rim and put them back on. The dealer said the spoke size wasn't available abymore. It has 1 3/8 inch rims. Any idea the value? The bike is in primo condition other than needing the rim put together

hey dave,
just came across your message, and I have some questions and some answers. Depending on the serial number on your cruzer, it could be anywhere from 1981-1990, but it is likely that the bike is in between, because 1981, the first production year, they only made something like 5,000 nationwide. Also, what kind of riding will the bike go through, because it is an oldschool race bike, and therefore does not have the structural integrity of, say, a 1999 Mr. Lucky, which is built for dirt jumping. Also, it may hold up a little for smaller stuff, but if it is to ride parks, then it will probably be very stressed to say the least. I have a 2000 Diamond Back Viper XL, and it holds up just dandily at the trails and the park, but my 1983 RaceInc. Blaster can only be ridden around the neighborhood to show it off.

AGE / VALUE:   Lester Mag Help? posted by: Adam on 12/1/2000 at 2:25:33 PM
I picked up an old kinda' cheaply constructed looking AMF BMX today. An "AMF Bruce Jenner Sprint MAG FORCE Limited Edition" (geez whadda name)! I could almost care less about the bike... what caught my eye was the Lester mags. I'm more into Stingrays, but Lesters look cool!

Anyways, here's my problem. Like a dummy... I took some cleaner wax to one of the wheels. About all it did was turn that spot black. I'm assuming that's oxidization coming off of the aluminum (or alloy, whatever). Either that or the wheel is black and I'm wiping off silver paint (sorta' doesn't sound right though). Any ideas on how to clean this black stuff off w/out just making it worse? I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Lester Mag Help? posted by Okay... I give. on 12/1/2000 at 8:00:14 PM
Apparently these are painted metal... sure had me fooled for an aluminum alloy! I've tried a couple cleaners and all I do is remove more silver. Oh well.
