AGE / VALUE:   Mongoose FS-1 & Diamond Back riptile posted by: Harry on 11/30/2002 at 7:31:32 PM
Hi everybody, I have two bikes I would like to know the value on. The first bike is a mid 80's mongoose FS1, it has skyway o.e.m rims and is in excelent condition. The second bike is a Diamond Back Riptile, it is an all chrome bike, and most of the chrome is very good, although there is a bit of surface rust in places. If anyone could help, It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No offense (seriously), but both bikes are junk. No collector value. If you don't believe me, check out the auction sites. Your el cheapo bikes bring very little. Hope that doesn't hurt your feelings, but I'm not making it up...

I just picked up a Cycle-Pro Shotgun frame and fork, my guess is late seventies. The frame stickers are prism style. I'm looking for a set. I would be interested in trading this rare f/f along with a 1979/1980 Raleigh
R-10XL 531 Reynolds frame (N.O.S.) for a Robinson or SE frame and fork.

does anyone recognize the serial number format # k 95 40 0600 ?
ive got a blank painted 26" bmx frame with a yoked rear triangle near the seat post cluster - thanks for reading/help - zooks

I have a frame that sounds very similar to the one you describe. I found in the back of a local bikeshop/ junkyard, where I was told it might be a "bonanza" or "bonzai", the guy wasn't sure. Supposedly made in San Diego, which is where this shop was. Has a seatstay yoke similar to a 90's cromo haro or bontrager mountain bike. 4" headtube, takes a wierd size seatpost (26.4 or 26.6, I think), and a seatube of around 16". Does that sound like what you have? I'll check the serial# & let you know if the pattern is the same.
