WANTED:   Haro Master posted by: Kurt Grohman on 2/23/2003 at 6:24:28 AM
Does anyone have a Haro Master of like '85 - '90 - i love the kind with a neon color mags with "Haro Freestyler" on the down tube. Remember those? Old school rules!

RE:WANTED:   Haro Master posted by Kurt on 2/23/2003 at 10:58:52 PM
If no one knows the where abouts of an old school Haro Master, i am going to trade my Hoffman EP for a newer Haro with the ACS mag wheels that I found at a pawn shop. I just can't keep up with these new school flatlanders and really can do more impressive old school tricks. Can anybody relate??? I am 5' 8" and that Hoffman EP is too short for me and the bars I bought were cut down in the width. The haro at the pawn shop is made for a tall guy like me. I has an old school look with black mags and yellow bars with a chrome frame. Does anybody know how well the ACS mag wheels (three spoke mags) hold up to old school flatland like hopping tricks???

I have an 1985 chrome haro master, with all NOS parts. Are you looking for pics, or just chat?

AGE / VALUE:   Metal 5-spoke mags posted by: Brad on 2/22/2003 at 12:53:50 AM
I found a set of metal 5 spoke mags and was wondering if somebody could tell me how old they are

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Metal 5-spoke mags posted by Kurt on 2/23/2003 at 11:07:21 PM
Brad
They are probably about as much as 20 years old!!! I owned a pair like that were used back in middle school which was in 1984!!! Do they have coaster brake on rear hub? Are they real heavy? From what I can remember somebody like Shwen (spell?) made them but I am not sure. These medal mags were made before Skyway tuff wheel and the other graphite mags. When I had mine, i painted my neon orange which I thought was real cool. That should answer your question.

Brad
I don't remember an interceptor from my old school days, but I remember the flat and slanted end of the top tube with GT stamped on it. A rough rough guess is maybe late early 1990's and not late 1980's because i don't remember the GT Interceptor unless it was a race bike. My friends and I had a GT support team sponsorship in which we got everything from GT for wholesale price. So, I know it wasn't from that era (late 1980's) at least in the freestyle arena. Plus, if you said it had mags, then it is a freestyle bike and not a race one. I think it is from the early 90's because the three spoke mag wheels were put on the least expensive freestyle bikes that kept the price down for beginner freestylers. The Skyway Tuff Wheels had five spokes on them and cost a pretty penny when they were invented. Plus, if your Interceptor is a chrome or "plain" color then it is early 1990's because the bright colors when out of style at that time and spoke wheels were being run by flatlanders like myself as the tricks started getting harder and good brakes were needed. (The chrome rims provided good braking.)

AGE / VALUE:   Mongoose posted by: David on 2/18/2003 at 10:55:06 PM
I recently dug out my old Mongoose from my parents garage. I thought it would be cool to restore it. I'm curious when the bike was built. The serial number I found on the underside of the frame is 009-152552, the 009 is actually on top of the 152552 not next to it. Anyone know anything about it? It is bright yellow with yellow four or five star mag rims. I think they are five point rims but I'm not looking at the bike at the moment so I forget. - Thanks!
