AGE / VALUE:   "pk ripper" posted by: Elvis on 6/2/2003 at 3:12:20 AM
Hi all. I sometimes ride old bmx bikes in the mountainbike trail that runs through the woods by the river near my house, so I saw this chrome bmx int he rubbish and salvaged it. All I had to do was throw on a new rear rim. The bike is cool, the tubes are all squared and the handlebars are blue and the hub and rim of the orig. front wheel are also blue. The brakes are gold and the frame says "pk ripper" on the down tube. Any idea about the history of this bike? I recall the name from discussions i've had about old bikes but don't know much about it. Any info appreciated. Thanx.

MISC:   jammin' jimmy weinert and blue max mongoose posted by: gordo on 6/1/2003 at 2:03:10 AM
I'm not a collector and I not well versed on old school bmx, I just dig those old bmx bikes. When I rode a lot in the early 80's I had, still do, a Jammin' Jimmy Weinert. I have been inspired to fix her back up, nothing is original to the frame, I monkeyed with that bike constantly and she had been well modified when I got her in 81 or 82 or so. What is the story on these, who made them? The frame looks sooooo weakly made compared to bikes made now that I'm almost afraid to ride it. I'm not gonna thrash, just ride in the street with my son. What would have been this bikes original set up?
Also I recently bought a well used but complete mongoose blue max for $10 at a garage sale. It lacks the hole in the gusset that every old mongoose I remember had. Instead it has a maltese (sp?) cross stamped in it. Any info would be appreciated.

AGE / VALUE:   MONGOOSE AGE posted by: JERRED on 5/27/2003 at 6:08:16 AM
PICKED UP A FRAME I THINK IT'S A MONGOOSE LOOKS LIKE ONE NO DECALS, COULD ANYONE TELL ME THE AGE. SERIAL # M3-J9184. ALSO WHERE DO YOU FIND THE SERIAL# ON A HUTCH CRUISER, I CAN'T FIND IT. THANKS

RE:AGE / VALUE:   MONGOOSE AGE posted by Ron on 6/2/2003 at 10:46:09 PM
Your Mongoose is a 1983,if I remember right it was the first year for the looptail design, the Hutch number on my trickstar is on the rear dropout and on my racer its on the bottom bracket shell also some Hutches don't have serial #s my son has one that doesn't,its my understanding some of them weren't stamped if they were sold as a bare F/F,if you decide its not for you for any reason I would be interested in buying it,Ron

Hey, I have a 1999 Hoffman Condor Pro Team frame. I want it repainted, but I have no clue where to go to get it sanded, primed and painted. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE mail me, im in a hurry, and im runnin out of time!

RE:MISC:   HELP! posted by mike on 5/25/2003 at 1:16:33 AM
You could have it sand blasted, body shops can do it, or
establishments that sand blast and repaint tanker trucks.
Another possibility is to have it tank dipped in paint
remover by a furniture refinishing shop. Mike
