AGE / VALUE:   thruster tri-power XL frame posted by: Mark on 8/19/2003 at 7:08:41 PM
While cleaning out my parents garage (they're moving), I grabbed some old parts to save them from the dumpster.

I was wondering what my old (purchased new in '83) chrome Thruster Tri-Power XL frame would be worth. It's in o.k. shape. Also I grabbed a pair of Z rims, JMC bars, shimano DX pedals, DK stem. I left the Hutch Pro Racer XL, Hutch freestyle bars, Araya rims for my older brother (since they were his anyway) for his son.

Any info would be appreciated.

is this frame and parts for sale?

RE:AGE / VALUE:   thruster tri-power XL frame posted by Mark on 8/22/2003 at 5:28:02 PM
I have had quite a bit of interest in this frame (and some in the other assorted parts).

I am initally just interested in an aproximate value to help me make the decision for whether to rebuild or sell or simply to hang onto the bits.

Once I have enough information about the stuff, I will decide on the next step. Should I decide to sell, I will post here with details.

Still need info!

Thanks for the interest,
MG

MISC:   What model Hutch is this? posted by: Andy on 8/19/2003 at 3:15:22 AM
Hi guys,

Just wandering if anyone can help me with my query.
A friend recently left for overseas and left me his chrome Hutch complete with black Tuffs. The serial number on the frame by the dropouts read '0740633'. Can anyone tell me what model this is or point me to a site which can help me? Thanks for reading anyway.

A hutch from the day is worth a boat load, especially with Tuffs. The guys at Vintagebmx.com are Hutch freaks, they will know. Hope this helps.

MISC:   Basic Handlebar Question posted by: wilson on 8/15/2003 at 2:58:23 AM
How do you determine the rise of handlebars?
What points do you measure from?
Thanks!

RE:MISC:   Basic Handlebar Question posted by Michael Ashcraft on 8/15/2003 at 4:23:46 PM
Wilson,
Measure from the center of the bar that is the clamp area or where the stem clamps, up to the highest point, curve near the grip area. The measurement takes a little creativity and always should be centerline to centerline.

They're metric, go to a fastener store, nuts and bolts only store.

AGE / VALUE:   Freestyle GT? or not? posted by: Daniel Swehosky on 8/12/2003 at 8:00:46 AM
Picked up an old freestyle bike at a garage sale, needs some elbow grease, but it has attitude. I can't figure what type or what year it is. I guess a GT from '86. It has this standing platform under the seat, it is oval and is bisected by the top tube with two supports that connect to the stays. It also has two sets of screw in foot peg attachment points going up the forks and one at the rear drop outs just above the slots. Hard to describe but I can email pictures if you have an idea thanks in advance.

RE:AGE / VALUE:   Freestyle GT? or not? posted by Jeff on 8/16/2003 at 11:11:55 PM
Most GT's will have GT stamped on the dropouts and on the back of the top tube. I don't recall seeing any older GT's with the peg bosses on the rear of the frame.

RE:RE:AGE / VALUE:   Freestyle GT? or not? posted by JR on 9/8/2003 at 12:41:33 PM
I also have an older GT freestyle bike with peg mounts on the forks, and near the rear drop out. Mine is a GT Pro performer with the old GT mags but I am not sure of the year. A local BMX bike shop said probably between 86-89 model.
