WANTED:   Looking for Retro Mountain Bike posted by: Trevor on 2/16/2007 at 6:38:07 AM
Hey Guys, new to this forum. I am looking for the bike I had when I was a kid. It was a 1980's black shock bike (front and rear) with plastic red fenders and gas tank. I have been busting my hump to get the name and model. Can anyone out there help me. Thanks.

Look in the picture database on this site. There is a bike called "Venture" which sounds like the bike you're talking about.

AGE / VALUE:   Bassett Racing Cruiser (ALL ORIG.) posted by: Steven on 2/14/2007 at 2:30:05 AM
I have a barley used BASSETT RACING CRUISER. It is a black stamped frame with rainbow colored orig. stickers on it. It has all origional parts (gold in color - rims / cranks)

What is the value of it? It's in great shape, it was barley used by my dad and it has sat in storage for many years, probably built around 1980

The value really depends on the components. The frame & fork would have value depending on condition, but for your sake, I wouldn't sell it, especially if it was your dads.

AGE / VALUE:   Kuwahara posted by: John on 2/9/2007 at 5:14:35 PM
I have an 80's Kuwahara but are unable to determine which model it actually is.
Its small (32 inches from axle to axle), has 20 inch wheels (Araya), sugino main gear, and the head stock has DK imprinted on it. There are no other markings I can find.
It looks similar to one on the net called a 24 inch but if this refers to wheel size mine is only 20.
It was white but I repainted it blue. Now you can get the stickers I might restore it if its worthwhile. Are these bikes worth anything?

Its either a KYZ, KZ1, KZ. I think those were the most common ones. I might be interested in it. Got pics?

Rampar is a good name. They were built around the same time as FMF & Race Inc. Late 70's, early 80's I think. Definitely not custom. Does it have a gussett in the the front triangle near the front? How about one by the bottom bracket? Good frame, hold on to it.
