Very interesting model - what a pity that it isn't in better shape.

It's in beautiful shape if you substitute a tilde (upper left key shifted) for the single quote in the URL.

Hmmm...forum doesn't like the tilde symbol.

Chris, you've used this site forever: paste the original url into your browser then substitute tilde for single quote mark.

ENGLISH ROADSTERS:   Decals for Raleigh Tourist posted by: Bill on 1/23/2005 at 2:10:40 PM
I'm working on a 1940's Raleigh Tourist as a winter project. Having difficulty locating a source for chain guard and down tube decals. Does anyone have suggestions on suppliers in Canada or the US? I'll go further afield if necessary.

Looking forward to your responses.

Contact Lloyds Cycles in the UK.. they have a website.

I don't think a 1940s Raleigh had any downtube decals actually. Only a very subtle "The All Steel Bicycle" on the seat tube. Understated British, you know!

Does anyone have any experience with the Steellite front drum brakes? Would they fit in a Raleigh fork?

AGE / VALUE:   How old is my Raleigh? posted by: Charl Cilliers on 1/22/2005 at 11:08:18 AM
Hi from South Africa!

I have just bought an old Raleigh ladies bicycle. The serial number on the frame below the seat reads 66330HI (the last two letters are very faint and difficult to make out). I have checked the serial number chart but can't find anything that corresponds....
It does not have gears, so, no Sturmey Archer hub where I could have found a date code...
So, any ideas on how old my latest aquisition is?

Regards
Charl Cilliers

AGE / VALUE:   Take a look at Classic rendezvous and also, the Brooks website! posted by: humberchristopher28@hotmail.com on 1/22/2005 at 12:06:14 AM
Looking over Classic Rendezvous as I do from time to time I discovered something new in the Brooks section!
A link to the new Brooks website and I like it!
I really like it! The Brooks saddles are now being packaged like fine shoes are. It's a great idea. I remember the box my new Louis Vuitton shoes came in. The class and style of just the box and then opening that box and slipping into those wonderful soft leather shoes and then walking in them. Getting to know them, loking forward to wearing them, every day. I was overcome in this warm, happy feeling and I broke out in a big grin. Sitting in the store, delierously happy. Few purchases are like that but more of them should.
Now every time a customer opens the box containing the legendary Brooks bicycle seat (saddle) they will go through the same experience. Every time somebody opens that beautiful box.
I think it is great. The box, the colors of the box, the magical products inside. The website is well done.
Bravo!
Then the thing I have been waiting many years for Brooks to do. Now they have!
The cycle tool rolls and bags are back on the scene again.
I hope it does make it into production, because cost's be darned. I want one of those tool rolls and that black leather large cycling bag especially. I'm too excited to care. I want it. that simple. Where do I pay?

Same thing with a new Brooks cycle saddle. Same experience exactly only you look forward to riding the bike and the pride of owning a beautiful Brooks saddle.
The way the bike looks with that seat on it, waiting patiently for me to grab it and go riding .

Go to: http://classicrendezvous.com/British/Brooks/Brooks_at_Interbike_03.htm

Look at who's portrate they are holding up!
That's the man himself! Mr Brooks!
See the Rivendell bike? Nice.
See those rear pannier's? I cannot tell if those are a new Brooks offering as well but it's possible!
I'll take a set of those also when I learn the story with them.
If you want a vintage British bike collector to come up and mug you, you just go riding with your Brooks leather pannier set on your bike!

Those are never seen on e- bay.
Anyways, I like what I see, especially the photo of Mr Brooks.
The Brooks website is underconstruction but you can look at what is up so far.
I sit and cross my fingers to see if our beloved B-90/3 saddle will be added to the others. It is pictured in one photo. I'll bet it will be up on the site any day now.

Take a look at the two sites.

Classic rendezvous is well worth being a part of their e- mail newsletter.
