I believe Sears made them. Occasionally I see them on eBay. They tend to get a little pricey. Good luck!

MISC:   Land-Rover bicycle posted by: Shay on 7/21/2000 at 8:15:16 PM
I have a Land-Rover bicyle that folds in half for storage. I'm not sure what year it is and I can't find a serial or model number on it. It has a Montgomery Ward sticker on the front of it. My aunt gave it to me recently and she said she's had it for about 20 years. It is in very good condition. Has anyone ever heard of this kind of bike? I've had several people tell me they've never seen one like it.

They are fairly common bke. Used b RV's people. I get cals often wanting to sell me one. Don't think the have any collectable value.

What happened to it? I was wondering why I got that "access
denied" or whatever thing, when I tried to get to it. I thought maybe it was because I was on my wife's computer.

I heard from a guy who heard from Schwinn that they are installing new forum software. I hope it will be back up soon. Not to take anything away from our generous hosts at oldroads, but the personality was a bit different over there.

You are all more than welcome to stop by my friends forum where some of us are kind of hanging around and waiting for Schwinn to complete their upgrade. Go to Oldroads link section and click on Bunch "O" Bikes. On my front page you can take my latest poll or click on the link to head over to my friend's forum and discuss all day. Don't forget, you can also keep the discussion going here at Oldroads!!

The Schwinn page was too full of bickering. This place is popular and well run. Plus they've got the picture databases and serial number charts and these great discussions and 5 years of archives. OLDROADS forever!

AMEN! to the "too much bickering".

MISC:   Sc hwinn Sting Ray fastback posted by: Mike Wilson on 7/21/2000 at 10:34:49 AM
I bought an awesome orange Sting Ray at a yard sale today. The gentlemen was selling his grown sons bikes and this was one of them. It's an orange Sting Ray fastback #GK507512. It has a thumb shifter and is all original. The seat is in mint condition and frankly everything on it looks good (except for a frozen chain). My 11 year old son is proud as a peacock but I told him this bike may need to be put up (he has 3 more bikes). I'm embaraased to say what I paid for it, but in the 10 minutes I've researched it I believe it was worth that smaal amount. Could someone out there give me an idea of it's value?

Thanx, Mike

RE:MISC:   Sc hwinn Sting Ray fastback posted by SchwinnFool on 7/30/2000 at 10:05:38 AM
I'm jealous! Value is so dependent on a number of variables. Condition, year, color, original components, etc... All that said, if the bike is in good condition with original parts it could easily fetch $200 and maybe as high as $400. Hope this helps.

FOR SALE:   1951 Hornet posted by: Cindy on 7/21/2000 at 8:17:55 AM
I have what I think is a 1951 Schwinn. But I'm not sure what style it is. It looks identical to the Hornet, but mine has a rear rack over the fender. The serial # is H069034. It is in very good shape, with a little rust. Original paint color is good.
Any inquiries or information is appreciated. Send to alberts@rrt.net

FOR SALE:   Huffy wheel bicycle posted by: Eric on 7/20/2000 at 9:13:44 PM
Bike looks exactly like the one depicted on the huffy steering wheel box. This bike comes with the drag brake, tall sissybar, and steering wheel with a steering wheel column (the same color as the steering wheel. The bike is all blue. The column I believe was an accessory. This bike is depicted in the old ads without the steering wheel column. If you are looking for a rare bike your search is over. I am open to trading. Email me at therealschwinman@aol.com
