MISC:    T.E.A.M. Bike Auction posted by: Tom on 3/9/2001 at 8:13:22 AM
....a mighty exspensive Schwinn! At the T.E.A.M. bike auction in L.A.; Teen idol Brittney Spears' Schwinn went under the hammer for $4000!
Robin Willams' Griffen and Christopher Reeves' Cannondale went for $5000 each. But...the big seller was Lance Armstrongs' Trek that he trained on for this years Tour de France left the block at $10,000!

The price the Brittney bike brought was a bargain. I'm sure a lot of people would have been glad to pay that much for just the seat. *-)

FOR SALE:   Cables first, then more posted by: VVVintage Vintage Bicycles at OldRoads.com on 3/8/2001 at 4:28:16 PM
We've made our first cut at our "cables" page. We've bought just about every kind of Sturmey-Archer, Phillips and Clark-UK, NOS vintage cable we could find over the past few years and now we're starting to document them. And sell them!

The pictures are too big on this first pass, but our goal is to create a page which:

1) Shows what we have for sale
2) Once the inventory is gone, will exist as a reference source for Roadster, Middleweight and Musclebike cables.

The new 'cables' page can be accessed from the "Bikes/Parts For Sale" link at the top of this page.

MISC:   ANGRY! posted by: JFP on 3/8/2001 at 5:25:34 AM
I get angry when I see people making money selling serial number codes on ebay. That same information is available for FREE!!

RE:MISC:   ANGRY? No, but really dissapointed. posted by ChristopherRobin2@starmail.com on 3/8/2001 at 11:53:59 AM
Whizzer literature with the template. $150.00?? I told the man " No."
I understand your feelings. To me, the fustrating thing is when the information is lost to time or when you do not know where to start looking in your search. Boxes of things heaved out when a company quits trading and the building gets sold bothers me most I think.

I purposely passed up a great bike priced very reasonably. The guy was really awful, I had to beg to use the restroom, had to promise to buy something!(I bought a package of gum,I was going to spend more, wanted to get a few things but No, Not from this fellow!) Terrible painful shoping experience, from minute I set foot in the door. If you arrogantly go out of your way to insult me and treat me shabbily, humiliate a customer by refusing common cortesy? forget it."Let me use the bathroom so I can do my shopping" I said. Lucky for me that worked.
This bike will sit there forever, nobody else will ever get that far past his attitude. It was a DX Schwinn too.

Don't be to quick here. the list that I purchased from memory lane a few years ago is so much easier to use than the one on this site it was well worth the few dollers. I don't know what list they are selling on E Bay and such but the list by the Antique Classic Bicycle News is well worth the price.

Post it free on the net and lets put a stop to this.

Yea...Who has the list that shows the day of MFG ? That should be posted.
