WANTED:   Schwinn Corvette Chainguard posted by: Tina on 7/29/2002 at 4:30:16 AM
I just bought a Schwinn bike and by the serial number it was made in 1953. As far as I can tell it's a Corvette however, it's missing the chainguard. I'm looking for a green chainguard (and a new/old seat)to make it complete. If you have either of these items, please e-mail me.

RE:WANTED:   Schwinn Corvette Chainguard posted by Roger on 1/19/2003 at 4:26:10 AM
Tina, this is a long time ago but did you ever find your parts. It is not a 53 for they didn't start making Corvette's until 54. More info if you get back with me.

FOR SALE:   Raleigh DL-1 and parts posted by: Geoff Rogers on 7/29/2002 at 3:43:11 AM
1975 Raleigh DL-1 "policeman's bike", 28" wheels, 24" frame. This bike has hardly been used: it has its original Raleigh Roadster tires, which are like new; near-perfect original pedals, original grips, Brooks B-72 leather saddle appears not even broken in yet. All chrome is excellent, paint beautiful but with some small scratches and one small rust patch on the front fender plus a little corrosion on the rearmost section of the hockey stick chainguard. Decals are mostly excellent but the fork "R" decals are gummy-looking. The bike rides very well, stops as well as can be expected from rod brakes, and all gears work fine, of course. It's a special bike because of its originality, but it is not perfect, as described above. I have pictures of the good and bad points, and will be pleased to email them to you. I will accept the best offer over $250. It is not currently listed on ebay, although I may list it if nobody wants it here.
I also have numerous other English 3-speeds, priced from $35 to $150, including:
1973 AMF Hercules, Dutch built Raleigh, near mint, $100
1973 Raleigh Sports, lady's, white, decent, $90
1965 Raleigh Sports, lady's, green, little used but paint weak, $85
1960 Dunelt, lady's, purple, $50
1940 Stoddard Gazelle Special, $150
Nice NOS rear fenders for Raleigh 28" prewar bicycle, $15 each. NOS Rudge Whitworth gearcase, missing bottom section, $40. Lots of used 3-speed parts, all cheap: frames, fenders, wheels, pedals, forks, bars, cranks, etc.
Email me for quotes.
Thanks,
Geoff Rogers

Hilary Stone from England puts up hard to find S-A hubs on Ebay semi-regularly. Sorry, I don't remember his Ebay handle, but he posts regularly on the Classic Rendezvous bike discussion list to alert folks what he is putting up for sale.

MISC:   flandria posted by: Byron on 7/26/2002 at 3:01:55 PM
I have a 10 speed road bike that I got at a yard sale around 1979/1980. The only markings on the bike is flandria (all lower case) and the olympic rings.

The insignia on this bike matches that of a Belgian company that made primarily mopeds and went out of business around 1980.

I want to know general age/value/location of parts infomation, if anyone can help me.
Thanks.

MISC:   Western Flyer posted by: J. Cain on 7/26/2002 at 6:35:06 AM
Hi my wife has an 1984 or 1985 ten speed Western Flyer with disc brakes.

It is in very good condition.

We were going to put it in a garage sale & got to thinking that it might be worth more than what we would typically get at a garage sale.

Any idea what this bike could be worth?

Should we hold it back from the garage sale? If not, what should we ask for it?

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
J. Cain
