My bike, after all these years, has developed a squeak and a grinding sound when I pedal. Is this something that I can ignore, or do you think it is a serious problem in the pedal mechanisms(ball bearings?)? If so, is this an expensive repair, and is it worth doing for a bike this old?
It has given me many years of pleasurable riding.

Prob just grime or poss bearing is dry...I recomend taking the crank apart and cleaning the inside and soaking the bearings in solvent then just wipe em off and re-lube them with a bearing grease..prob can fix for under 5$ sounds like its time for this anyways...reg mainteneance can prevent this and keep those cranks functioning to their best !!!!!! Good luck

MISC:   Stingray Junior posted by: Carey on 6/3/2003 at 8:02:31 AM
Just wondering where I could track down info on the Schwinn Stingray Junior. There seems to be lots of info out there a/b the Stingrays, but the Junior model isn't well-discussed.

This was my first bike and has been in storage for years. I'm thinking of restoring it but need some accurate restore info.

Thanks.

MISC:   Unsure of identification of vintage bike posted by: Travis on 6/2/2003 at 1:06:32 AM
I am restoring a vintage bike I was told it was a Goodyear but it looks as if it could be a pre-war Indian. The only markings are on the bottom of the crank: MUS 65534. Does anyone know what the MUS means? Once I have figured out what to call her I will be needing a badge, tank etc to restore. I have a pic I can send. It has 2 bars on top not parallel and a straight front bar.
Thanks

WANTED:   Elgin parts posted by: Jim on 6/1/2003 at 11:47:31 PM
I have what I believe to be a Men's 1939 Elgin. It is in pretty good riding shape with orginal parts including a skip tooth chain, rear ctr stand, truss rods, pedals, wheels, & headbadge. I am looking for a rear rack, rear taillight/reflector ( the rear fender has 2 holes in it for either light or reflector, I don't know what the bike came with) and a chainguard. If anyone has any of the items listed please e-mail me. I enjoy this bike a lot and would like to restore it someday. Thanks!
