Does anyone know anything about this bicycle? 'Starjet Sports Tourist'. It also has BMA/6 on the neck-says it's been inspected, also has CBC on it-no gears, no hand brakes- I picked it up in a yardsale about 6-7 years ago, it rides smooth as the wind! Thanks for any info.

MISC:   Huffy childs coca cola bicycle posted by: Brenda Fordham on 8/18/2003 at 7:03:53 PM
I'M TRYING TO FIND out about this bicycle. It is red and black and has coca cola on it in several places. One person told me that it was made by Huffy and coca cola didn't give them permission so they had to stop production.
The bike is just like new and I would appreciate any info you can give me. I have a couple of people interested in it and would like to sell it. It is a really good looking bike.

Thankyou, B. Fordham

I have my doubts about that person's story. Major corporations such as Huffy don't go into production of a product on that basis. They have lawyers who tell them not to do it without a licensing agreement in advance.

It's possible that they might fab up a prototype or two with that sort of markings, for the purpose of proposing a licensing deal. If the deal doesn't happen, the prototype is an orphan, and possibly a scarce collectable.

Other times, a company such as Coca-Cola might contract with a company such as Huffy, to make a certain quantity of bikes with their markings on them for use as premiums or contest prizes. These wouldn't be quite so rare as prototypes which never reached production. There were numeous Schwinns made with corporate markings, for deals like this, such as Rolling Rock, etc, to name one example.

The third possibility is that some individual gave a Huffy a paint job and stuck their own stickers or hand-painted graphics on it. If the markings and paint job are of less than factory quality, this is probably the case. Since Coca-Cola's usual official color scheme is basically red and white, with very little black, other than lettering or minor accents; I'd be very suspicious of it if it had black fenders, for example.

If you want to shoot some sharp photos of it, showing the whole bike and close-ups of the graphics, and e-mail them to me, I can probably give you a fairly definite opinion as to what you have.

WANTED:   Schwinn Traveler 3 spd SS fenders posted by: Joe on 8/18/2003 at 8:25:40 AM
Hi,
I am looking for 2 good sets of 26" stainless steel fenders for late 50's or early 60's Schwinn Travelers. I need two front fenders and two rear fenders. They must be in really good condition, no dents or tears. If you have a set for sale, please email me directly throught the link above. (click on my name in blue). I believe these fenders were used from at least '56 to '62, maybe longer. These were the fenders with the finned front tip.
Thanks, Joe
