FOR SALE:   1960s/70s BlackHawk/Glider Deluxe posted by: marc barre on 8/26/2003 at 9:20:11 PM
Hi, My dad owns two Bananna Bike Black Hawks and one Deluxe Glider. All would require some restoration and would probably be in 6/10 shape. What sort of demand are there for these bikes? What sort of price could he command?
Thank you.

FOR SALE:   Early 1950s Notingham Raleigh posted by: marc barre on 8/26/2003 at 9:09:10 PM
Hello, My dad has a three speed, S.W.Compact, Notingham Raleigh, which he has owned since the early 50s. The bike folds both at the main frame and at the handle bars. It is white with a matching lino, bike carrier. The tires are in fair shape, while the bike itself is in excellent condition (8.5/10). I do not have serial numbers just yet, but would appreciate an estimate on its value nonetheless. Thank you.

L is November, G is 1971. The rest is just a sequential number. This thing could be worth some serious money if it's in good condition. You might want to post on the Schwinn forums. Lots of people over there very into these types of bikes.

MISC:   WARNING TO ALL BIKE PEOPLE posted by: Gary Main on 8/25/2003 at 3:57:26 AM
Avoid the Hunteyville Indiana Auction at all costs. John Yoder farm auction. Bunch of criminals. they quick sold my bikes for pennies. Then after they thought i left i waited and guess who was loading my bikes into their truck? JOHN YODER AUCTION EMPLOYEES. and then i asked him to sell me back one of my bikes for $5. he told me he will get $50 from it easy at HIS BIKE SHOP!!. yep shill bid my bikes quick for pennies and not only is going to resell them, he was selling them for profit on the auction premises. i will be contacting the Indiana State Police monday morning. is obvious they were out for personal gain beyond commision, which is a violation of state law. please do not remove this true and awful post. they stole thousands of dollars from me.

Go get them. I hate theft and that's what they did to you. I'm not a fan of auctions....

Found a vintage road bike yesterday but can't find a thing on the internet about it. It is a Welker, looks about twenty years old, steel frame, decals are all Italian, made in Italy. Has anyone heard of this make of bike? If so could you tell me a little history? or direct me to

Hi. Considering parting out a nice 1977 Schwinn Volare as I need the Shimano Dura Ace group for another frame that better fits me. The Volare used double butted 531 Reynolds tubing including stays and fork. Paint and decals show usual scratches/fade. This bike was set up with vertical rear dropouts and 700's, both unusual on a bike of 1977 vintage. 23" frame. Bottom bracket inc. but no headset. Bike is now complete and will only part out when frame is 100% sold. $100 firm plus shipping. If interested please call kevin at 1-419-878-8059. Thanks, Kevin

You can't tell anything but the year from a schwinn serial number.

Have a look at the schwinns in the picture database.
