FOR SALE:†††Looking for Schwinn Jaguar and other various vintage parts posted by: Louis on 6/9/2004 at 7:24:08 AM
I'm currently restoring a 24" Women's Schwinn cruiser for my girlfriend, and I am in need of a pair of whitewall tires(and rims)/original decals (or a faithful reproduction of them). Also, for myself, I am seeking a 26" jaguar (in any shape). If anyone knows where I can find any of these things I would GREATLY appreciate it. thanks alot

Hi Louis, Look at my website www.suzieillustrator.com I do quite a bit of reproduction decals. I restored a Schwinn Hollywood and reproduced all decals to match the original exactly. I've got some photos I can email you if interested? I can recreate decals from scanned images or photos. Maybe I can help you out! I really enjoy what I do and I especially enjoy seeing restoration projects with decals that I have recreated!

wow! thanks a lot for the info. I still have a bit of work to do before the point of finding the decals, but when I'm ready, you will be the first that I contact. For the sake of curiosity, and for future reference, I would enjoy a picture or two in my e mail. Thanks again.

Does anyone know if the people who own the schwinn name gets uptight like schwinn did about reproducing decals

WANTED:   Looking for 4-5 person bicycle posted by: steve on 6/8/2004 at 4:05:06 PM
I am looking for a 4-5 person bicycle to use as a prop for a photograph.

RE:WANTED:   Looking for 4-5 person bicycle posted by JimW. on 6/10/2004 at 3:52:36 AM
Might be a good idea to mention where you plan to shoot the photo, Steve. I can't imagine what the freight would cost to ship a bike that size anywhere. Brad Graham, for example has a machine he buit that falls into that category, but he's located somewhere in Canada. http://www.atomiczombie.com

If you don't mind some advice from a professional art director; I'd seriously consider using photoshop, a typical tandem bicycle, and 4 or 5 different people, with a separate background photo to composite the combined bits and pieces into. Unless, you find someone with a 4-5 person bike in your area, of course. Good luck.

MISC:†††Schwinn Varsity 1964 value? posted by: suzieq on 6/7/2004 at 1:00:36 PM
I am thinking about selling a Schwinn Varsity Mens 10 speed and I needed an idea of value. It is in great condition, just needs a chain. It is all original with an Ideale leather seat, chrome fenders and a chrome front headlight. My uncle purchased it when he was 17 and it's been in my family ever since. Can anyone help? Thank You!

RE:MISC:†††Schwinn Varsity 1964 value? posted by Ken on 6/7/2004 at 9:48:04 PM
According to the catalog those mudguards were a $3.50 option in 1964. I can't find any catalog reference to the Ideale saddle; was this a factory option, anyone?
While you can find Varsitys at garage sale prices, this one might just attract some interest on ebay, if the paint is good. But I don't think you'll be retiring on the proceeds.

MISC:†††1961 Rollfast , & men's Schwinn -- value? posted by: Nan on 6/7/2004 at 1:34:57 AM
I received a girl's model blue Rollfast (with white pinstriping) for my 8th birthday in 1961. I still have it and am wondering what it's worth and whether to sell it. Has original paint, some minor rust. My husband likewise still has his childhood bike, a red & white (or red & silver?) Schwinn, from similar era. Apologies that I don't list model specifics -- I'm not a collector but am simply a person sorting through my storage barn! :) Are these valuable enough that we should hold onto them as opposed to letting them go into a barn sale? We have a few other old bikes here as well. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

   RE:MISC:†††1961 Rollfast , & men's Schwinn -- value? posted by Nan on 6/7/2004 at 1:53:39 AM
A "P.S." to my post above: My husband says that his bike is a Schwinn Traveler 3-speed, also circa 1961.
Info can be emailed to me or posted, but email will doubtless reach me sooner. Thank you!

   RE:MISC:†††1961 Rollfast , & men's Schwinn -- value? posted by Ken on 6/7/2004 at 9:55:05 PM
I emailed the following free advice to Nan. It's impossible to evaluate bikes without seeing them, but I bet the Traveler's a very smooth ride... she didn't say whether the Rollfast still fits her.
As one who has sold bikes both on ebay and at garage sales, I am inclined to think that if you can enjoy them at all, your bikes are worth more to you than to a buyer. The three-speed Traveler may be mildly collectable if it's clean and complete including the generator set, fenders etc. And the Rollfast is a good name. Condition is the limiting consideration. However, finding the buyer who really wants the particular bike you have usually entails listing on ebay, and that brings the matter of shipping into the equation. These bikes may cost as much to package and ship as they are worth at auction, so a buyer has to offer less... the alternatives are to post them on an alternative board, like Oldroads, and see if people break down your door, or to offer them on ebay for pickup only, both of which severely limit the size of your market.
I always think "Ride with pride" is good advice. You can't replace them, so enjoy them. Good luck.

FOR SALE:†††Circus-style parade bikes for sale posted by: Una Trost, 1-765-429-8300 on 6/5/2004 at 12:04:35 AM
Homemade, "whacky wheels" clown bikes for sale. Fifty-year bike repairman made these for use in parades. Goofy looking contraptions, some with seats way in the air and tiny wheels; some with four wheels rotating in opposite directions; others with shoes attached, that look like the bike is walking. About 15 in all, asking $300 for the lot. Also one Schwinn unicycle in useable condition. No computer, so call me if interested. My husband died recently I need to get rid of these bicycles. I am in Lafayette, Indiana

Very rare three-speed, two-passenger (F/S PPV E/C Lafayette 123-4567) adult pedal car for sale. Blue and white fiberglass body, adjustable white vinyl seats, made one year only, 1973, in Sterling, Mich. About six feet long and four feet wide, resembles a small motorboat but without motor and with four wheels. Small plexiglas windshield is cracked but easily replaced. Needs to be cleaned up, but it's a real show stopper, great for parades. $300. My husband had this but he died recently. Phone calls please, as I have no computer. It is in Lafayette, Indiana, between Chicago and Indianapolis.
