FOR SALE:   Vintage bicyles and new and used parts for sale posted by: Dave on 10/8/2005 at 1:41:36 AM
Hello All,

I am the coordinator for a program called the Bicycle Recycling Program in southern Minnesota. We take donated bicycles from the community and allow children and community members to come to our facility and learn bicycle maintenance and safety. We teach these items to people and if they do the work under our supervison, we allow them to take the bicycle home free of charge. In oder for us to pay for the costs associated with this program we sell most of the vintage and classic bicycles we receive. I currently have a stock of about 300 bikes most of them in the 40's-70's era. I would love to be able to list them all but the time it would take is overwhelming. We have recently acquired several thousand new in the box parts from an old bicycle shop in southern Minnesota. Parts range from tubes to hand grips to forks, seats, sprockets, chains, pedals (i have lots of pedals) frames, fenders, struts, cables, bearings, cranks u name it we have tons of new stock of mostly vintage parts. If anyone is looking for something specific they can send me an email and i would glady look to see if i can help out. Prices are reasonable and you of course would pay shipping costs. We also have, like i mentioned earlier several Schwinn's of the vintage era as well as Columbia's, Monarchs, JC Higgins, Raleigh's, Vista's and some other odd bicycles. Most of these bikes are in respective condition for their age and as we progress with our program we will eventually be offering them on ebay. Ebay bikes will be sold under original condition or for a fee we will make them road ready and try and keep them as original as possible. If you have any questions feel free to email! Thank You Dave

MISC:   Schwinn Collector Rant posted by: N/A on 10/5/2005 at 12:37:43 AM
A rant about the Schwinnbike.com forums and Schwinn collectors in general!

25% of what I've recieved from various suppliers so far for my project has been incorrect, no matter how many reference photos are sent.
(Read: Schwinn collectors don't know what the h*** they have and don't care)...

40% of what I've received is unsatisfactory.
(Read: Schwinn collectors don't care about overstating the condition of their junk)...

50% have not returned my emails about purchasing their item
(Read: Schwinn collectors don't care whether they sell you a part or not)...

85% of them are generally idiots.
(Read: Schwinn collectors are people who you do not describe in public, as their description requires words that are not fit for public consumption)...

65% of them are full of themselves.
(Read: Schwinn collectors think themselves superior to the next guy)...

15% of them are great fellows.
(Read: You know who you are!)...

Please excuse my rant.

Well now. I collect all types of bikes but mostly Schwinn. So I wonder which percentile I fall? Hopefully the 15% for those that know me. I have always treated everyone fair and even given stuff away. To list all Schwinn collectors as such seems a bit unfair. You must have really got burnt by someone. I have met great people on all the forums that I am a member and value those relationships. If you are unsatisfied there is plenty of other sources for your Schwinn parts. But no guarentee any better service. Respect goes a long ways and should be on both sides of the fence. Sorry you feel this way from a proud Schwinn Collector and forum member,

Your rant is excused...
