We cleaned our our uncle's basement and have a bicycle that I've had difficulty identifying. The serial number wasn't fully stamped so I can't read the 1st letter to identify the year and I haven't been able to find any pictures of "Columbia Sports 3" anywhere. Or any mention that Columbia has a Sports 3 model. But it's got a sticker on the side that has "Sports 3" on it - so I know that's right.

I have a picture at: http://66.84.19.90/images/bike.jpg

Looking to sell - but I wanted to first have the right year. The tire size is 24 x 1 3/8, male, original paint.

The serial number is: First letter starts with the bend like a G or a C or a O - but the letter isn't fully stamped. Then it is 219 0041.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It's a department-store bike from the seventies, made of the cheapest steel and equipped with low-cost components. That's a Shimano three-speed hub. Ultra reliable but by no means rare. Possibly a trifle more interesting for the 24" wheels, but still a garage sale item.

Thank you so much Ken, great info! Now I won't feel bad by chucking it in the dump! I didn't want to do that and find out it was worth something.

that bike is of no interest to me, but dont toss it!!!!!!
either sell it at a garage sale or post it here for sale, maybe try the road bike forum???

now that I think of it, is the back wheel a coaster brake, or a free wheel? if its a coaster brake I might actually be interested....

It's a free brake sorry. Well maybe I won't toss it then. What's the address for the road bike forum? Do you mean http://www.bikeforums.net/ or another one?

If anyone here is interested or has any other questions on this bike, let me know. It is for sale.
