Hi again, wondering if you could identify this girls bike? pretty good shape and I was told it was a Stingray but there isn't any serial # on bottom of crank. The serial number is underneath the head badge Would that be correct for a Stingray? Serial # is: LU500200, does have a frame decal: "Quality Schwinn, and butterflys on the 'naner seat. Any ideas on what she is, age or value? Here are pictures of it. http://tinyurl.com/8k3zf
Much appreciation for your time and letting me take up space here. Thank you very much.
That is a Schwinn. It's a girl's Sting Ray, made in Nov. 1983. It could be either a Lil Chik or a Fair Lady. Look closely on the chainguard and you'll probably find the remnents of the model name. Nice find! These are interesting to me due to the differences between them and the earlier models.
Please, yesterday brought home a curb side Schwinn Caliente. I'm not sure if I'm understanding the serial chart listing's here. This one is in pretty good shape and I was literally 15 feet in front of garbage truck when I spotted the bike. Serial number is GB801483. It's blue and I was wondering if it's Girls bike or Mixte? 27 inch femco rims. All the decals and hardware intact, good Schwinn seat. Not an advertisement, just pick up a lot of bikes and come here for information, (you all been pretty good for that in the past, thanks) It has made in Tiawan on frame so what guessing it's around 1980's? Just like to know more about it and if it has any value as collectable or if I should have just let the truck take it. But with gas prices like they are, hey i'll just about pick up anything anymore if I think I can a dollar out of it : )
thanks in advance. I'll keep my eye on forum for reply or please email me at addy above.
