MISC:   Info on Twinn posted by: Jack Garrett on 6/6/2005 at 2:08:33 AM
Recent purchase at auction, Schwinn Twinn all orginal Tandem with Serial number GJ822818 that does not match up to charts. Can someone interpet these numbers, and estimate approximate value? Has light rust on fender braces and on rear rim. Rides Great.

You don't specify the location of the serial number, but I'm guessing it's headtube. This would be a 73. While the charts posted here appear to show five digits, I know that at least some of the Schwinns of that age have six digits following the two letters: I have a Collegiate, easily identifiable as a 74, that does. As for value, I expect it's a difficult sell because of both limited demand and shipping expense. I also have a Twinn about that age, and have watched them come and go on eBay and in shops. IMO, the single-speed Twinn ought to bring $100 at a garage sale, twice that to a 'motivated buyer' if it's clean. Our LBS had a Deluxe, the five-speed model looking sharp, and tried for about a year to get $400 for it. Do you feel like letting us know how you did at auction?

Value depends on condition, but even in poor shape it is worth a considerable amount of money.
