WANTED:   Info on Kabuki posted by: Van on 2/13/2007 at 9:16:42 PM
I have just been given a Kabuki bicycle that appears to be relatively old and would like to find out when it was made and a ballpark value. Here are some of the particulars. Cross bar has CRMO X-12 on it. Derailleurs are SunTour VX. Brakes and levers are DIA-COMPE. Rear wheel has Weinmann rim on Mallard hub. Front wheel has Araya rim on Suzue hub. Both front and rear wheels are 36 spoke with quick release. Handlebars and post are Sakae Randnner (aka Randonneur I have been told). Crank is SilStar. Tires are 27 X 1 1/8. SHift levers are mounted on the down tubes. Bike color is blue and teh bike weighs about 22 lbs. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks Ken. This bicycle has not rust and a few minor chips in the paint here and there. Rides extremely well and shifting is very smoothe. Any idea about the value of a bicycle like this? I know that's a broad question and there are a lot of variables. Thanks again, Van

Late seventies. The Vx was introduced in 1977 per Frank Berto.
One wheel's not spec, probably the rear. Why they put Randnner on those bars is one of life's mysteries; I like 'em though. Randonneur seems to translate roughly to tourist.

I also have a Kabuki bike I purchased at a yard sale years ago. It appears old, but has a name on it "1 Aveloz-12". I was wondering what it is worth and if it is worth fixing up to ride. It needs work -- new tires and general fix up. If you find out anything about yours, can you let me know too?

I haven't found much more info on the Kabuki's. The one I have fortunately needed little beyond tires, adjustments and a little elbow grease. It rides well, shifts smoothly and doesn't look bad. I think these bikes would be worthy a a few dollars to fix them up.

WANTED:   SturmeyArcher GW 3-speed hub posted by: The CCM Guy on 2/12/2007 at 4:17:46 PM
I am looking for schematic or exploded view of GW hub.I know it is principally the same as the AW hub. But there is a Dyno-Hub built into it.I am restoring a 1964 CCM Continental equipped with this hub. It also has original S.A. head and tail light. I want to rebuild the hub. Also there is no output from the Dyno-hub. Could this be due to demagnetization? If so, can you remagnetize? This is an awesome website. Keep on ridin'
