Just bought a beautifully restored 1970's road bike. Name plate says Vista.
Any ideas/history of this company?

Did you pay the $275 the guy was asking?

I'm not trying to be snarky but in my searches I find comparable bikes in much better, almost unridden condition, with original paint and decals, fitted with a proper saddle, etc and never pay more than 20-25 bucks.

I know there are other costs involved(tires, tape and some labor)but if $275 is attainable for a low-mid level bike that's been repainted and fitted with obviously well-used components my heart is overjoyed. That means the market is heating up, so who knows what really nice examples of decent bikes will bring?

AGE / VALUE:†††Campania posted by: jim-t on 3/10/2005 at 4:57:08 AM
Today at a thrift store I saw a Campania Professional. It had chrome lugs and suntour adjustable dropouts, suntour cyclone derailers, grand-compe sidepulls and other japanese parts. No tubing stickers. All the Campania's I have ever seen are usally low to mid level bikes. Couldn't find any info on the web about Campania.

Campania was a short-lived Japanese marque of the early 1970s. I suspect the Pro has Ishiwata or Tange double-butted CrMo tubing in the main triangle, possibly with CrMo stays and forks, as well.

I have a Campania - but it's more the low-to-mid range. I think the tubing is high tens. But, I had picked it up because I had never heard of that brand....and plus, it had no braze-ons.

After doing a search at this web-site I found out that Campania was named for the person who imported them not after an area in Italy. The professional also came with Dura Ace parts too. It's interesting that Campania is best known as a low to mid level had a high end bike. A couple of months ago I saw an Astra on E-bay with 531db tubing.
