AGE / VALUE:Univega Grand Tourismo posted by: Jim Paul on 2/23/2007 at 2:35:22 PM
Univega Grand Tourismo, serial number K378299, grey metal flake paint. 3 in the front, 6 in the back, rack is biult-on with its own light. Suntour all over, I think about everything is original except pedals and handlebar tape. Is there any indication anywhere on the bike about how old it is?

A Suntour derailleur should have a two letter date code you can look up on this Trek site.

Warren,
I purchased a Grand Tourismo in the summer of 1985. It was by far,"THE", most comfortable bike I have ever owned ! I do not know how long that model was made, but I am sure that you could write directly to Univega and find out. I am on line now trying to find out if Univega makes a touring bike now with the same geomeitry. Do you have any info for me ?

I just [urchased a road bike. I't a Zanella all Campy (it's really nice) says Zanella Dino also. The guy I purchased it from lives in San Diego Ca. He said his friend in Italy makes them and he was going to try and import them into the US in the mid 80'. The adventure didn't go as well as planned and looks like there are only a few in the US

MISC:   JAMES bicycle posted by: Dean on 2/21/2007 at 11:55:30 PM
Well, mom if I get this bike for Christmas, I'll take good care of it, and never ask for another one. That was in 1955. About time to refurbish it. 1954 or 1955 JAMES made by The James Cycle Co. Three speed. 26" wheels. It had fenders in the Raleigh pattern. Had a crank replaced years ago, and was told it was "an old style Raleigh crank".Rims are stamped "Dunlop". Seatpost measures 1 1/32 or about 26.2mm. Recently bot a Brooks B66 for it. Couple of questions:
1. Anyone out there know about the nuts & bolts of this bike? (British bicycle standard or what?)
2. Miller generator and lights still work, but need a new reflector... any idea of where to get one?
3. Have some JAMES history, but any additions welcome.

I have a '83 real Guerciotti 55cm complete bike. I bought it new and built it myself. It has a complete SR grouppo (with good rubber on hoods) 13-18 or 13-21 campi cassette,Rigida Oro(hollow pin)chain,Clement silk on Nisi 290 tubulars or training tubulars,Turbo saddle, leather tubular bar, campi alloy toe clips w/campi straps,52-42t chainrings and 170mm cranks. I am a USAC machanic (since'88) and have always kept bike indoor. Just seeing if there is a interest for the bike and to see if I could get a value of the bike. I can send pictures. I am told by people who know about classic bikes that it is in very very good shape. I also have several other wheels hanging around--Roval 24 hole tubulars 280 GEL,330 and GP4 wheels.
