MISC:   bottecchia from the eighties posted by: Claes on 5/7/2007 at 10:28:39 AM
I have bottecchia from the late eighties(I think) that I now is using as fixed cross. I am thinking it might be worth building it up again. Anyone has info on it? When I bought it it was with shimano 105 but I guess that was added later. The head set is campa (says "brev" on it) and I also got an exttra wheel set when I bought it (campa record tubular). I am not going for acomplete restoration but rather I will steal the campa mirage group sitting on the moser in the background of the pictures.

I just wanted to show off my latest find. It's one of those bikes in really, really good condition AND the best thing it's my size. I'm so excited.

What do you think?

A very nice sport/road bike. Love the copper anodizing on the components. Of course it would nice to put drop bars back on it.

If you really love your bike then I'd seriously consider buying the one on ebay too. Get your levers, the spare chainrings, BB, pedals and headset...sell the rest to defer your costs. Or keep it all. You may hang your fork one day.

This is assuming you have extra cash for whimsical purchases.

I recently picked up an old children's bike from a yard sale. The bike is in good shape and appears to be all origional - It states it is a JC Penny Swinger Jr. and has no serial number. It has a bannana type seat, with wide handle bars, wheel spokes have plastic tubing around them in various colors.
Does anyone have any further information about these types of bikes? Thank you

It is supposed to be from the 70s, Is it by chance yellow and red ? the serial numbers should be near the grooves where the rear rim bolts down. I need info on it too but no one has any....

I purchased this bike in Virginia. Someone told me that they thought it was from the 60's and that JC Penny had re-branded the bikes to sell. The color of this particular bike is green and yellow. The hardware, where the rear tear bolts down is labeled 70 Bendix USA. If I can figure how to load the picture I'll put that up.
