Wondering if you pick up this bike? I've been looking for a bike outfitted with campagnolo athena components and would be interested in purchasing it if you haven't already done so. -Chato

AGE / VALUE:   Hyperglide-C body posted by: Gralyn on 1/16/2008 at 10:42:05 AM
I've been playing around with the gear ratios on my RB-1. It had the original Hyperglide ....13-24 ....I think it went up to 24 - not 26. But anyway, I wanted to have an 11-tooth. It has a non-compact cassette body.....so I put a spacer on first, then the cogs. It's now 11,12,13,14,15,17,19. My question: can you swap out the non-compact body with a compact body?

No, you can't. One has the spline-type section on the hub, the other has the spline on the free hub body.

AGE / VALUE:   Track cog question posted by: Gralyn on 1/14/2008 at 8:09:00 AM
I bought a couple track cogs on ebay. Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention - but I thought they were pretty standard. It was some time after I bought them - until I actually screwed them onto a hub....like I didn't test-fit them when I received them. Now I find that the inside thread diameter is too large for standard hubs. I have picked up numerous track cogs at various places - and they are all the same thread size. But these are too large. They aren't large enough to thread onto the body of a free wheel (like where the last cogs are threaded on). Is there a larger diameter track hub? If so, how common is it? Is it an older hub? Or maybe from a different country?

RE:AGE / VALUE: Track cog question posted by Warren on 1/14/2008 at 8:37:16 PM
I've had a couple of those and they're from older coaster style hubs...not good for ither of us.

I've also got one track cog thats too small...good quality made in England. Have yet to figure that one out.

RE:AGE / VALUE: Track cog question posted by Joe on 1/16/2008 at 1:04:25 AM
Every track hub that I've seen has been 1.37" x 24 tpi, but the lock ring threads can vary, I believe there's three different size lockring threads. The larger diameter thread on a track hub should be the same as any standard english threaded freewheel hub.
There were several older coaster brake hubs that used
threaded sprockets, New Departure was one of them. Some early Sturmey Archer hubs also used a threaded driver, but this thread was the same as a track hub. I have also seen a few sellers selling outer freewheel sprockets as track sprockets too.
There are also flip flop BMX hubs that have a smaller thread on one side to accommodate a 15t or smaller freewheel.

Mine must be one of the old coaster brake cogs. It's too large for standard hub, too small for thread-on to a free wheel.

RE:RE:AGE / VALUE: Track cog question posted by Warren on 1/16/2008 at 4:45:34 PM
You're forgetting about the Dura Ace 10 track group...not standard fitment. And please believe me, I've got this nicely machined britsh cog with RB stamped on it and it doesn't fit any of the dozen various track hubs I have. It's a hair small. Odd, I know...maybe a proprietary cog for another purpose? Looks totally bike to me.

I'm selling quite a bit of road cycling for a freind who closed his shop last year in the Midwest. Below is most of the list with a few items to still be sorted out as some is still in storage. We are in Milwaukee, and the only thing we ask is if paying by Paypal is that the buyers agree to reimburse us the 3% Paypal charges us.
