MISC:   older mtb bike, how to convert to a ISO fork? posted by: Lisa on 6/7/2004 at 8:05:55 PM
Hi, I purchased an older 26 folding MTB. It has a BMX
size headset. I was told that you can upgrade this via
of just replacing the front fork with an 1 inch ISO fork
and installing an ISO locknut. Is this that simple?

MISC:   Gary Fisher Klunker posted by: Mike in TX on 11/21/2003 at 10:56:53 PM
Anybody have any idea how long the Klunker was offered? Was it considered a 'limited edition' bike or anything like that?
All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Hey there,
Yes, there were supposed to be 'limited production'. I don't know how many were made. I've got one from '96. They might have made them in '97 as well, but maybe they were just left over stock from '96. I know some came with 7 speed R/F STX shifters and levers and some came with 7 speed old Gripe Shite. The rest of the tranny was STX. Pretty low-end stuff. Mine came with GS and I swapped out for some old Suntour thumb shifters. I'm upgrading with old-skool stuff every chance I get. I love my ride! I grew up in Fairfax, CA. so I'm a little sentimental about such things. Peace. Long live Repack!

Hey there Josh, did you ever find out anything on the value of that stumpjumper? I also have found a 1984 stumpjumper sport, looks like the frameset that you linked to, except that my fork crown is much beefier. I'm having a lot of fun riding it but wondering how much it's worth before I damage it! Thanks, Wilson
