AGE / VALUE:   Stingray crank size posted by: Eric on 11/12/2002 at 10:49:25 PM
I wanted to know the correct crank size for early Stingrays, 4 1/2" center to center like the later Junior Stingrays or 5 1/2" center to center like the 1965 and later stingrays? I Located a Nov. 1963 Stingray with the longer 5 1/2" crank, the bike seems very original(all other parts are right for a '63), but I've seen many '63s and 64s with the shorter crank? Any feedback helpful.

hello, i have been collecting all the vintage muscle bikes i could find for about the last 3 years. and im runing out of room so i want to sell some of my bikes. The bikes i have for sale are...
1. Schwinn babe blue bantam: good condition has white lined superior tires that are in ok condition and it doesnt have the convuertion tube, it has a seat that lookes like it came off a cruiser but i dont know if thats how it came stock. i will sell for $40.
2. 1974 Schwinn yellow 3spd. fairlady:this biek is in great shape for how old it is it has minor scratches, barely any rust, the 3 speed thump shifter works awesome. it does not have the original seat but the seat is in mint condition. the back tire is not original either it is off a scrambler i think. I will sell for $75

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF THESE BIKES EMAIL ME AND I WILL GET BACK TO YOU.

THANKS

AGE / VALUE:   ramshorn fastback posted by: sheridan on 11/11/2002 at 11:31:04 PM
i have a 1966 violet ramshorn fastback does anybody know how many was made that year thank you

RE:AGE / VALUE:   ramshorn fastback posted by Drew on 11/12/2002 at 1:59:07 PM
By 1966 Schwinn was making a lot of Stingray's, but the Ramshorn did not do that well as far as sales. I think the production nubers wew rather small. Can't guess on a number made but one could look at it this way; Schwinn made about 700,000 bikes in 1966...maybe 20% were Stingrays, and their were roughly six different kinds of Stingrays...So 1/6 of 140,00 stingrays would be about 23,000 Ramshorn's. The number may have been much lower than that??? If you could find someone who was selling schwinn's in 1966, and ask the what kind of precentage they remember seeing go out the door, you might get a more precise number.

Does anyone know exactly when Stingray headsets were changed over from the unusual early type to the one used on almost all electro-forged Schwinns? What other bikes was this odd set used on?
