AGE / VALUE:   Shimano Shifter posted by: Ian on 10/25/2003 at 9:28:33 AM
Hi, Can anybody tell me what sort of bikes used a Shimano GT-3 T-Bar type shifter? It is a consol type that obviously mounts on top of the frame so I suspect it would be a chopper or Stingray type bike. Thanks, Ian.

AGE / VALUE:   Chopper Sissy Bar posted by: Ian on 10/25/2003 at 9:16:05 AM
I was asked to help with the clean out of a cycle shop that was moving last night and amongst the parts I was given was what appears to be a Chopper Sissy Bar. It is about 34" high and 6" wide and has three small notches each side at the back on the lower part and one notch each side on the back further up. It has a label attached saying it came from the distributor for Raleigh Choppers so I suspect it is off one of these. Can anybody confirm this and which model? Thanks, Ian.

Doesnt sound like a Raleigh part.
Do you have a picture ?

They will be showing up on our site as we recondition them.

WANTED:   derailer or pulley's for grey ghost posted by: Roy on 10/24/2003 at 12:21:55 AM
I'm looking for either 2 pulley's or a rear derailer for a 1971 Schwinn Grey Ghost. Any info as to where I can find one, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

RE:WANTED:   derailer or pulley's for grey ghost posted by BillG on 10/25/2003 at 2:19:13 PM
Should be pretty easy to find. So many Varsitys, Collegiates, etc used the same pulleys.

I am looking for spokes to relace a set of s5 rims, are the spokes/nipples the same for S5 and S7 rims? Thanks!

RE:MISC:   Spokes posted by BillG on 10/25/2003 at 2:20:55 PM
Nipples are the same on both rims.
Spokes will be cadmium plated, not chrome or straight zinc.
Spoke length will vary by rim and hub. Your local bike shop whould have the right spokes.

Hi can anybody i have been trying find out what year my 3 speed speester is nobody will tell me exacly they skip I and O so you dont get confused with 1 and 0 what year is it ser CO 45367 THANKS

RE:AGE / VALUE:   YEAR posted by Drew on 10/21/2003 at 1:55:24 PM
I'll try. Schwinn did not use the letter 'O' or 'I' because they look like the numbers '0'zero & '1'one and people would be mixing them up. Look at the Oldroads page on Schwinn serial numbers, it lists all letter combinations. also, your three speed hub should be made by Sturmey Archer and they dated their hubs.....68 5 would be may 1968, 65 2 would be February 1965 etc. Last resort, find someone who knows Schwinn's and show him the bike.

Can someone lead me to a website with more info on a bike I picked up this weekend at a car swap meet. Its a girls violet Schwinn with the serial number EE... So far the only thing I can tell is it is from May 1969. The bike is in great condition and has "SCHWINN Star" on the chain guard. In all of the searching I have done on the web nothing talks about a "star" model? Anyone got any info???
