WANTED:   Old stingrays and parts posted by: Evan Schwarz on 12/2/2003 at 8:22:38 PM
I'm looking for old stingrays or specific stingray parts. I am building a school project and I need stingrays! If you have a whole stingray, it must have the frame, sprocket, frontend, crank, gooseneck and necessary bearings. Preferably, the stingray should have a gripper slik. The bike also must have the wheels. Any single parts I am looking for are frames (boy or girl), tall handlebars, slik tires, and an original GOOD condition bannana seat. Rust can be removed.

MISC:   Orange Krate Restoration (recommendations please) posted by: James on 11/27/2003 at 2:32:06 AM
About 15 years ago I scrapped up all the NOS parts (practically) to restore my 73 Orange Krate. Well got married and the project got put in the basement. I've got orignal NOS, seat, front end, rims, tires, speedometer, tail lights, grips, brakes, deraillure (sp?), handlebars, shifter etc etc etc. I use to travel alot and when in a new town I would hit the local bike shops looking for goodies. Now I would like to find someone to put it all together as I really dont have the time and would like to see it all back together. Can I get some recommendations about somone who specializes in Krates and who is located in the Ky, Ohio, Tenn area. One more thing, what is a ballpark value of what I have now. This is the first action Ive taken on her in many years and totally clueless now. By the way on the recommendation... I restore antique firearms, I am very particular about attention to detail and workmanship. I'd rather pay a little extra to get what I expect.

Thanks in advance for your time,
james

oh yeah, Ive also got NOS rear suspension plus the seat post shock NOS. Original owners manual in mint condition (serial number has been written on the front cover, does not match the bikes though) seems like I should have spares of most items also, I am sure I have a spare NOS tail light, and prob brake parts and tires, more I think about it the more I am remembering... LOL

James,
Your best bet would be selling off everything NOS you have now, then buy 2 krates already complete, and in the condition you would imagine yours to be! NOS PARTS=$$$$Cha Ching!

It is a Starjet Barracuda made by Chain Bike Corp (later Ross?). 3-speed hub, console shifter, cantilever frame, Goodyear rear slick, very nice looking and riding. I am not a collector, and my son really enjoys his "cruiser". I'll try to post a photo. Thanks
