Maybe i am wrong by calling it a muscle bike maybe it is a a bmx of some type. The suspension setup is like that of a motorcycle(front triple tree fork with spring shocks and a rear swing arm with shocks.I am not looking to sell or trade the bike, I am just trying to find information on it(make, model, ect). I have a Schwinn apple crate and I'm trying to figure the year out I think that it might be a 1969 but it might also be a seventy. Any help?

The number is located in the left rear dropout. If the second number is a E it is a 1969. A F would be a 1970. Is this bike for sale?

Hi. I need help. I need to find a stick shift ( 3 or 5 Speed ) with built in brake lever. The shift lever knob is black and says "SHIFT" and the brake lever knob is red and says "BRAKE". I also need a part for the rear springer sissy bar. I need one of the metal cups that goes between the springs. I will buy the entire assembly if needed. The Sears Screamer used this same style sissybar. Also if anyone has info, clear photos, etc. on the chainguard decals please let me know. I really want to put this back on the road and am anxious to get on this. Also any parts: frames or anything I would be interested in. Thanks, Sean

AGE / VALUE:   Sears 20" Purple Musle Bike posted by: Peter on 12/25/2004 at 2:49:37 PM
I have recently acquired a Boys Sears 20" Muscle bike that looks like a Stingray, with front and back chrome fenders. Excellent condition! (it is like a "9"!) but hoping to figure out what year it is, and what it is (spyder?). The bike is purple in color with matching grips and a matching ribbed seat. The seat has a silver border around the base. The bike is a coaster, with a hand front brake. the chain guard is chrome, short, but wide. the end of the chainguard attaches to the rear fender. the left side of the chainguard has 2 rows of black painted strips, as if to look like vents, (have seen a simular chainguard on a 24" 5 speed spyder bike). the pedals were the bow type, and were black in color with no reflectors, (they were in bad shape so we took them off) the only reflecter was on the rear of the bike, a Gulco, I believe) no wheel or front reflectors. the handlebars are very wide, like the 1968 schwinn stingrays.
I would guess the bike might be 1970 or before because of the lack of reflectors.
can anyone help ??? I have a picture if this helps. please e mail me direct if you have any info ...
This bike claened up very well ... the chrome is beautiful and the paint has very few scratches ... Definitely a keeper ... no plans on selling this one, so please do not ask ...
the tires are in good shape ... the rear being 20 X 2.12 looks like a bigger tire but not a slick ...
please help ! that you ...

RE:RE:AGE / VALUE: Sears 20 posted by Peter on 1/3/2005 at 10:41:04 PM
thank you Ziggy ...
still curious about the year ....
here is more info on the bike ...
the serial is on the left rear dropout ... huge long number ...
the Sears name badge is riveted on the front,
there are several multi stiped decals on the frame ... some on the top bar near the neck, others on the seat downtube.
the bike had a state issued bicycle license plate that expired the end on august 1971 ...
both wheels are 20 inch ... (did I say that already?) and have stainless steel spokes.
the chain guard looks like the 24" 5 speed spyder on the picture database in OldRoads.com that one says 1969 for the year ... I do not know how else to tell the year unless someone can tell me ...
can anyone else help ????
thanks again ...

MISC:   Trying to identify possible musclebike from my youth posted by: Hong Kong Cavalier on 12/21/2004 at 6:42:14 AM
I had a bicycle that seems to fit the musclebike category, but of a slighty exaggerated design.

I'm thinking it was a Huffy product, but may be wrong...this may be because I seem to remember it labelled "Niterider" on the frame...

It's design is very similiar to muscle bikes I've seen pictured, but with one exception....the front bars were much longer (think along the lines of an actually customized "chopper" motorcycle....like Peter Fonda's from "Easr Rider"),

Any help or pics of this bike would be greatly appreciated.
