I WAS 13 OR 14 WHEN I BOUGHT A SCHWINN RAMSHORN 5 SPEED BIKE.I'M 55 NOW WHICH TELLS ME THE BIKE MUST BE A 65 OR 66 THE SERIAL# IS LB54380. AS I REMEMBER I PAID ABOUT 100.00 FOR IT AT A SCHWINN DEALER.WHAT HAS ME CONFUSED IS I PURCHASED THIS BIKE BRAND NEW AND NEVER MODIFIED IT IN ANY WAY.IT CAME WITH THE SWEPT BACK CHOPPER STYLE HANDLE BARS AND NOT THE RAMSHORN STYLE BARS. THE BIKE IS PURPLE AND HAS HAND BRAKES ON BOTH SIDES, THE BANANA SEAT IS WHITE VINYL AND HAS ONLY 2 SMALL 1/4 INCH CUTS AT THE FRONT TIP OF THE SEAT.THE TIRES ARE NOW DRY ROTTED FOR BEING UP IN THE ATTIC FOR OVER 30 YEARS.ITS NEVER BEEN RESTORED OR TOUCHED UP IN ANY WAY.THE PAINT IS NOT PERFECT .ON THE 1-10 SCALE I BELIEVE ITS AN 8+ .I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ITS VALUE AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT IT .THANK YOU RALPH

I hate to say it; but your Schwinn dealer back then rooked you. If it was a true "ramshorn" fastback then it should have been installed with the correct handlebars. You can find the bars on ebay from time to time. You need to try to find the "Schwinn" Rans bars; there are a little different from the "Wald" bars. You would also need the correct Violet handlebar tape to tape the bars. A "ramshorn" fastback were built for two years in 1967 & 1968.

depends on what it is. The "pixie" and "Lil tiger" were both built with a removable(convertible) top bars. They are common and were produced in the mid 60'-80's. The Schwinn "Bantam" was another offering for unisex that featured a girls double bar frame with a removable top bar. These were produced in the early 70's-80's. The bantam's have become collectible over the past few years..hope that helps

I wonder if that bike uses the same Murray Eliminator frame with just a stirring wheel. I'd have to dig my Murray catalogs out.
