Just got a old schwinn tandum bike that needs some parts and care to get it working condition. Need a supplier of parts for this type bike. Thanks for the info Dan
I have a 1954 Schwinn Black Phantom, totally original, mint condition, but missing rear fender reflector/tail light. I'm having trouble finding one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Memory Lane Classics. Ask for the good glass lense model. They have the tail lights too.
How can I locate someone near my home who is capable & qualified to complete restoring a bike? I live in the Denver area and I am searching for someone who can complete the final details needed to finish restoration of my bike. This bike is already in excellent condition, but it is not 100% perfect. It still needs a few fine details to be completed before it will be perfect. If anyone knows of someone within the Denver area that you could recommend to complete this type of detailed finish to a restoration project, I would certainly appreciate your input. I am not a "bike person" so I am in uncharted waters for me. Are there a few people, or companies, that are considered the "best-of-the-best" when it comes to bike restoration, as there are for car restorations? If there are, I would appreciate it if you could pass along their names and contact information to me. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello! I want to restore an orange Krate Stingray...and i have NO bike repair or metal restoration experience at all! The paint is in ok condition because another kid that had the bike after me spray-painted it. The spray paint seems to be peeling off to reveal pretty unrusted orange paint! Anyway, the chrome is rusty on some spots, especially the wheels and sproket, and I need some tips on how to refinish, or any links to a good place with tips would be much appreciated. I'd prefer to make this a DIY project, but might resort to bringing it in. what do you think? thanks much! -tasha
ok, i found a good resource and pretty much answered my own question, but any more advice for a first-timer would be great! as this thing has plenty more broken stuff.
I am kinda new to the old bikes scene. One of my good friends gave me great tips on cleaning my Schwinn Corvette. For the chrome, use 0000 ultra fine steel wool & mothers aluminum polish. Just take your time & go slow.
Does anyone know the name/model of a bicycle produced in the late 70's that looked like a motocross bike, had a fake plastic gas tank, huge black seat and heavy shocks on the front forks? This was an actual bicycle. thanks
I think there was one company that made them (or maybe more) but they had a bunch of different brand names. There is one in the picture database here on oldroads. Do a search for the make "Venture".
Thankyou so much, Nate. That was it and a bunch of us mid 30's Toronto boys greatly appreciate it.
