I recently purchased an old Goodyear bike at an auction and I'm trying to find some information about it. It doesn't say anything on the bike but Goodyear. I'd be happy to send a digital photo to anyone who might know something about this bike. Thanks
DID YOU EVER FIND ANYTHING OUT ABOUT YOUR GOODYEAR BIKE? I HAVE AN OLD GOODYEAR BIKE, THAT SAYS "COLUMBIA BUILT" ON IT AND I CAN'T FIND ANY INFO O IT ANYWHERE!! YOUR STUFF POPPED UP ON GOOGLE, SO I DECIDED TO WRITE YOU, I'D LOVE TO HEAR ANYTHING YOU'VE LEARNED. . .THANKS:) CINDY
I found this site through google. I also have an old Goodyear bicycle and I see we are trying to find information on them! I will keep ya'll posted if I find anything and please do the same for me. Thanks, Rudy P.S. Please write to the address above.
I bought a Goodyear bike new back in about 1956. Mine was the top of the line. I think it was called the Double Eagle like the top Goodyear tire. It was black and white with chrome fenders, front drum brake, rear carrier, operating brake light, tank, horn, and headlight. It was as deluxe as they get. Competition for the Schwinn Black Phantom. Great bike but it weighed a ton. And all the chrome began to rust within a year. I know the bike was built by Columbia and it had their signature style chainguard. Wish I still had it today.
Hello, I need to ship my Schwinn Hurricane, how do you remove the handle bars, do you bang them out of the fork post? Thanks, John
If it has the "Positron shifter" attached to the handbars at the gooseneck, you have to remove it first. Then you'll see a bolt at the top of the gooseneck. Back that off about 20 turns so the bolt sticks out about 1/4 inch above the gooseneck. Then tap that bolt with a hammer. It is a "binder bolt" and when you tap it in, the stem and handlebars will come loose and you can lift them right out of the steering tube.
Does anyone know which model had the larger(holes are at 3.5 inches apart)head tube schwinn name plate as opposed to a smaller one holes measured at 2 3/4inches apart. My model looks like the others in the pixs. I've narrowed it down to the Hornet,or Spitfire. Thanks Russell
My Schwinn 1957 ser#7E52106... Does anyone out there have a picture of my bike or where I can find one. Thanks Russell
Schwinn serial numbers only tell you the year, not the model. Your best bet is to look for your Schwinn in the Picture Database here and find one that looks like yours.
Thanks for the reply it helped. Trying to find out if one had a bigger head tube name plate. this will really narrow it down.Russell
i work in a bike shop in abq, nm. and i am working on restoring a, what looks like mid fifties rollfast mens bike. it has a strange head tube size. wondering if anybody has any info.
