RESTORATION TIPS - PAINT:   Chain posted by: Joe on 7/1/2007 at 7:31:47 AM
I just bought a schwinn varsity and I am in the process of cleaning it, however I can't seem to find the link to remove the chain. Is there one? and if not can I just remove a link and replace it?

Some chains don't have a 'master link'.
What you need to do is pick up a chain-break tool. You can get them at Walmart or any bike shop for under $5

RESTORATION TIPS - MISC:   AMF Chrome Plastic restoration posted by: Joe Gielniak on 6/25/2007 at 9:26:08 AM
I'm restoring my father old AMF Royalmaster bike from the early sixties and the dual bulbed headlight tank bezel needs some attention. the chrome has since faded off the plastic
and has a small crack in the front. I think repainting is the only option, due to the crack any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

RESTORATION TIPS - MISC:   advice on everything please!! posted by: Nicky on 6/25/2007 at 3:40:23 AM
Hi, much advice needed. I salvaged a bike brown with rust, ready to be dumped. All I can tell you about it is that its a Hercules Balmoral 3 speed ladies bike with 26" wheels. I got it originally not because its vintage (if it is).. purely as i needed a bike and couldn't afford one. Now i've fallen in love with it. I'm very impatient and need to get it restored now as I move to Spain in August and have a vision of me riding it along the lovely country lanes lol. But I'm stuck!! I can't remove the chain holder cog thing (yes i don't know what i'm talking about) lol, also i can't remove the front leg things that house the front wheel. Can anyone help me please?? I only have July to have it all done.

RESTORATION TIPS - PAINT:   1963 stingray fastback posted by: charles on 6/24/2007 at 4:21:52 PM
i am about to begin restoration...or building from scratch a 1963 stingray. I bought the frame on e-bay and am very excited. My first question is about front forks. I am more interested in building a cool looking bike than a factory oringinal. I wanted to put on the smaller front tire like the gray ghost and was wondering what kind forks i needed for this project. Do i use a 24 inch fork and a 16" tire or do i have to buy a special fork.
thanks
