MISC:   Schwinn Twinn Deluxe Tandem Serial posted by: Patrick Oley on 7/13/2007 at 3:45:20 PM
I have a Schwinn Twinn Deluxe Tandem that is a light blue color. I have the original manual and I am trying to find the serial number. The manual says its on the right side of the fork. I do not see it. Any other suggestions? Also, any ballpark estimates on its worth. It has no rust and in excellent condition but 3 spokes in the front wheel are missing. Does the spokes missing effect the price very much? Thank you,
Patrick

Ihave come accross a sears & roebuck ted williams 24 inch womens free spirit folding bike. It is a tornado automatic 2 speed and was made in west germany. Trying to find out when these were sold and if there is any value. appears to have been kept in someones basement as it was covered with alot of dust and has some rust and dry rotted tires which still hold air. I took it for a ride and it changes gears fine any info would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Cliff, I haven't much info for you but I do have questions. Your bike is interesting in several respects. The Tornado two-speed- is it a kickback? If so, does it have three stripes? Some time ago we discussed the Bendix Tornado three speed hub which appeared to have some connection with Sachs. The 24" tires- are they the balloon-tire size or one of the several lightweight sizes? (Sheldon Brown says, caveat emptor... read his article before replacing tires.) I don't recall ever seeing a 24" folder. Can I have pictures? Based on its name, I'm guessing your bike is 40 years old plus or minus a couple. Value is, as always, in the eye of the purchaser but folders have a niche.

I have just purchased a Schwinn folding bike - 2 gears - free spirit - women's bike. To a stranger - it appears to be a regular bike - 24" wheels and a place on the back to hold books. I am wondering what year it may be. Made in West Germany - Sears Roebuck & Co. - Ted Williams

I have a columbia twosome (tandem) I was looking to find out the actual age of the bike. The only number I can find on the frame is TS10897. If anybody can tell me what year it was made I would appreciate it.

That doesn't really help because I know the bike is newer then that. It was my inlaws bike that they bought new at a local bike shop. They bought it around when my now wife was just old enough to hold herself up and she was born in 68. I figure it to be around a 67-69 just thought I could narrow it down better.

FOR SALE:   The Raleigh Nothingham Twenty posted by: Alysson on 6/30/2007 at 1:42:35 PM
I have a Folding-Raleigh-Twenty that I'd like to sell. I bought it a few years back in Montana. It looks like it's almost all orginal parts minus the tires and it's missing the chain guard. I have no idea what it's worth and would love some feed back. thanks

Alysson- Nice looking Twenty. What year is the manf/S.A. hub date? Besides that info, I would say $125.00 on the low end and up to $300.00 to $400.00 on the high end. I've seen some on e-bay that have sold in these price ranges. As with everything in the used and collectable market, it all depends on who is looking for this type of bike and what they're willing to pay. Since it's summer time, you may do well as a number of folks would like to have one of these to take to the beach or on trips. Good luck, Thom.

The missing chain guard will hurt its price. Does it have the original short Pletscher rack and short pump? These unusual original parts are important.

Thanks for the feedback. On the hub it reads 70 11 Three speed Stanley Archer. I don't see Pletscher on the rack and there is not a short pump. I'll give e-bay a try. thanks again-aly
