BALLOON:   roadmaster skyrider deluxe posted by: Jo on 7/16/2006 at 7:14:04 PM
We recently bought a Skyrider and it has original everything. It's in great shape. It's a 26' ladies teal and white with Troxel seat, has tank, headlights. I just want more info regarding the bike. I can't seem to find any info on-line. Does anyone have history on AMF? This bike? How to date it. We were told it is from the 50's. Any help would be appreciated!

If this is the bike from the sale in Arknasas it is from the mid 60's. Doesn't hold much value has it's not a real collectors bike. If this is the bike i was there and didn't bid on it and i collect bikes.

It is an old mead Ranger. I am quessing from the 20's. It has a round tubular tank under the cross bar and a leather seat. It is in very good shape other then the bent frame. I thought it was a good find but I am having second thoughts.
Thanks for the help, Mike

Can you tell the year of an old Roadmaster by the serial #? The # is G40212 and is stamped on the underside of the bike. It is red, appears to be very well maintained and has original parts. No model on the bike anywhere...Just Roadmaster, and a sticker on the stem that says Master weld. Any estimated worth, year of mfg, etc. would be appreciated.

Found a Shelby Traveler bicycle that someone had put out for garbage pickup. It's all together, but is missing front headlight. It's in pretty decent shape. Has not been restored. Does it have any value?

BALLOON:   Morrow blackout hub ? posted by: Drew on 7/6/2006 at 9:32:55 PM
Looking for any details on a hub....brake arm reads 'Morrow'.....it's a blackout hub, which reads "Eclipse Machine Division - Elmira NY - made in USA - 04 36 43".
I assume the number 36 indicates # of spokes, and the 04 43 means April, 1943 ? Any history details are appriciated.

Thanks for the info.....for some reason this hub only has the numbers I mentioned. The bike is a Roadmaster w/curved fender braces, I figure the bike is 1942-45 because of it's blackout hubs.

I am trying to find out if Columbia also made a Spaceliner or if someone just made use of another guard. The guard is Chrome but what is throwing me off is it also has green paint on it as well that matches the rest of the bike. Ob the down tube it reads Torpedo .Any info on this bike would be great??????

Sears made a Spaceliner and the chainguard would be mostly chrome. It sounds like the chainguard is not original. Have a look at the spaceliners in the picture database.

I think you can partially figure out the year based on the model number. I thnk model D hubs are late 1940s to early 1950s.
