AGE / VALUE:   MCS? posted by: Paulie on 5/31/2007 at 2:01:00 PM
Is there anyone out there who can tell what make and model of bike I have by the serial number? Around 89 I put a few of my bike frames in mom's attic to store while I went off to the military and I recently cleaned out the attic after forgetting about them. Both were 24' cruisiers, one was a Hutch that I raced, the other I cannot recall but the other I believe to be MCS Racing. I bought it off a kid second hand and it has no stickers on the frame, forks, or handlebars. Any help would be great! The serial# is 12830104 and has 24 stamped below the serial denoting 24' cruisier. Thanks..

MISC:   vintage union headlight troubleshooting posted by: J on 5/14/2007 at 4:40:44 PM
I have an vintage Union headlight that is powered by a generator. The back light works, as well as the wire that connects to the headlight, so i know the generator and wire are functioning. The bulb isn't burnt out either. When i take it apart, i can't figure out why the thing isn't working. Anybody have any tips?

I would recommend (obvious) changing the bulb. If that fails, try cleaning the contact between the bulb and the metal piece it touches. A nail file or emery board usually works well. You had the right idea following the circuit through from the generator to the bulb. It sounds like you stopped short.

Good luck

AGE / VALUE:   ??bmx bike?? posted by: chris on 5/7/2007 at 11:41:17 AM
Don't have a picture to post yet but can anyone tell me what this bike is/might-be.
bmx stlye bike given to me, mostly everything on the bike is redline:rims, tires, headset, cranks, pedals, sprocket.
bike has two pins/bolts that hold the frame together. pins are on back of crank area and other is about 3-4 in. behind seat post. pins/bolts definitely done by manufacture or proffesional. bolts/pin lies flat, looks like might bend so more tricks or when taken apart would store in small space.Back half of bike is aluminum.More square then round on body from here on. has sticker saying Works Link 6061 alloy.
Can't find any marks/stamps yet on frame. Forks have a v or checkmark on them. I don't know who these are from either?
Thanks so much for any help on this. Will get a pict. posted when have more time.
Two people have seen this bike besides me & giver, both have made offers to purchase but don't tell me anything about what they might know about it. Offers are good, last one was for $1,100.00 makes me really want to know more of what it is before I part with bike or decide to keep.

Sounds like an Auburn, mid-to-late 80's. Nice find if it is. That bike could be worth 1000-4500. I had one in 1988, that I paid 650 bucks for. It had two different "rear-ends", one squared and the other round. The "pegs" you're talking about allowed you to change the rear-ends(for what reason I still don't know) Mine was red(with flames) with the rear-ends chromoly.

I have come across a Diamondback Viper from 1982 or 1983 with all original equipment, no dents, no rust, there is a few scratches on 1 decal. I am thinking of giving it to my daughter (9) but wondering what it is worth. Can somebody give me any info?
