AGE / VALUE:   1983 kuwahara black mountain bike posted by: kimmer on 8/6/2006 at 4:33:43 PM
HI, MY OLD KUWAHARA MOUNTAIN BIKE HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE GARAGE FOR YEARS. STILL HAS ALL ORIGNINAL PARTS, INCLUDING TIRES. I WAS GOING TO GET A NEW BIKE, BUT FOR THE HECK OF IT, I GOT THE OLD KUWAHARA OUT, FILLED THE TIRES AND SPRUCED IT UP. OH MY GOSH!!!!! IT SHIFTED AND RAN JUST LIKE THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT IN 1983. FORGET THE NEW BIKE, I AM STILL ENJOYING THE ONE I HAVE. MY QUESTION IS, IN 1983 WHAT THE FRAME STEEL OR ALUMINUM, AND HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD BE WORTH TODAY.

WANTED:   Redline series 3 bike ? information posted by: sandjko on 7/29/2006 at 10:20:34 PM
I need help? I sold my son's Redline and now need to replace it. In my search I have found it is most like the pictures of the MX-III (Red & Chrome w/red tires)in the BMX Museum. It was Chrome with red trim. In searching for a replacement bike I find advertised Series 3, 600a, 500b, PL20, RL 20 MX III and do not know the difference. I do know it had a set of motomag IIs that will be expensive to replace. As near as I can tell the motomags were only manufactured late 70s early 80s which leads me to believe it was probably an early 80's bike. (I bought it used in 1988) It did have a 3 peice crank. If anyone can enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all...I have a diamaond back...cannot remember if it is a "Silver Streak" or a "Super Streak". Before I bought the bike I found a website that had the history/story of why the two different names w/dates, facts, etc. However, I cannot find that website nor can I remember what bike I have. I do believe I have the one that was "accidentally" put into production in Taiwan before clearance of certain parts etc. for the particular bike in question...Silver or Super Streak. With that said, the production in Taiwan, was that in 83 and does anyone have exact facts/info for the two different names?

Memories, I lived on my Sliver Streak when I was a teenager. The differance between the Super Streak and the Silver Streak was the weight; the Silver Streak is lighter. Wish I didn't get rid if it.

I just came across your post because I'm tring to fix my '83 Diamondback Trailstreak the hub was slipping. When I took it apart I found 73 tiny ball bearings in my hub all outboard of the cogs. Would you have any idea of where I might find a exploded view of this "suntour winner" freewheel. Plus I'm looking for some original handle bars.

I have this same bike. I bought it for $320 in the summer before the 6th grade with my paper route money. With the economy the way it is I just moved back to my home town with my family to be near my parents. In my dad's shed was my Diamondback II Silver Streak. All original, a few rust spots on the handle bars which I'm sure can be refurbished. It's in great condition because when I was I kid I went from idolizing Eddie King to Eddie Fiola and bought a GT World Tour. So I only used it for a year or two. I currently ride it everyday to take my son to kindergarten. What would you be willing to pay? It has great sentimental value, but the economy sucks.
