I have this I believe is a 20'' Red BMX Bike, red wheels with a all chrome body with winged handle-grips, regular seat. Seems like more adult foot rests. Might be from the 70's. Would you know what value this might have? No rust, just tires are dry and peeling on the sides where white must have been. Thanks

MISC:   Old Old School BMX Ideal Motocross posted by: Steve on 9/21/2005 at 2:50:44 AM
I recently acquired an old old school bmx. It is by a company called Ideal Cycle and the model is MOTOCROSS. It is similar to a Yamaha MotoBike. Full Suspension, motorcycle like seat, all around cool. I have not been able to find any information on this company or this bike. Any information would be appreciated. I can guess the approximate age to be around 1975 or so. I would like to know an approximate value also. Thanks for any help.

Yo I had one of these in the early 80's the seat tube is meant to go from a larger diameter at BB to smaller at the seat clamp, and was made by Japanese BMX company Tange using tange oval tubing. They were worth a load in those days and were hard to come by, also the taiwanese made copies (which didn't have the double size seat tube.
I hope that help I relise it was last year you posted but if you need more info let me know

I found a bike frame laying around and I have no clue what it is. It has a akisu fork, a sugino 3 pc. crank, and it has a double top tube. I also would say it is a heavier bike. Can anyone help on what it is.

Sounds like it could be a Torker or Haro. If your interested in selling it I'd like to take a look. You can email me at michael.deno@verizon.net. Send a pic if you have one or two.

Thank You,

WANTED:   Yamaha Moto Bike posted by: Kevin on 9/12/2005 at 9:12:17 PM
I'm restoring an A Model Yamaha Moto Bike. I'm in Australia there are only a handful of them here so it's impossible to get parts for them here. I need a chainguard, rear mudguard, and kick stand. Preferably NOS, but will consider any condition.
Please email me driverdynamics@optusnet.com.au if you can help.

I picked up one of these bikes a while back and just for fun, I stopped by a local Yamaha dealer who told me that they could still get some parts for these bikes.

AGE / VALUE:   Mongoose Minigoose Question posted by: DC Wilson on 9/9/2005 at 8:24:00 PM
I'm an old roadie rider/collector. To completely date me, old school BMXs came after my youth. Anyway, I'm trying to learn about old school BMXs as my young son has developed an interest. I have an opportunity to buy an old "cosmetically challenged" Mongoose Minigoose complete, original, in good riding condition for $10. The bike is blue on chrome with most badges and bar pads intact. What grade of BMX was the Minigoose? Would it be worth rehabilitating in dollar terms? Are any decals available for these old BMXs? It needs a new "BMX" head tube decal. I've picked up an old Kuwahara with oval tubing, too, but this Minigoose intrigues me more right now. Thanks in advance for any schooling you can share with me.

Okay, so I cracked and bought it. More details on my new old cosmentically challnenged Minigoose.

Wheels: Front--Blue Araya with blue hub.
Back--chrome rear with Bendix brake (replacement?)

Crank: Tioga and Mongoose with spiral swirl chain wheel

Pedals: black plastic, four heart logo, recessed reflectors.

Frame: blue on chrome.

Decals: BMX on head tube, Team Minigoose and All Tubes Chromoly on top tube; "BMX Products the winners choice" and "Bike Factory Custom Designed/Bellvue Lynnwood Olympia" on seat tube;

Fork: chrome, Tange 1200 Champion stickers on both stanchions.

Handlebar/stem: Mini ape hangers with a "v" shaped reinforcement bar; an unimpressive looking single bolt stem.

Seat/stem: stem blue, seat blue.

Any way to find an old blue Araya wheel for the rear wheel? What hub/brake would be appropriate.

Also there's no front brake though it appears to have had one. What kind of fron brake and lever set would be period correct for this Minigoose?

I have a Race Inc cruiser that had been relabled, I believe, by SE Racing as a Mauler with a Landing Gear fork. I actually sold it to a friend's son about 9 years ago, it was never ridden during that time and just got it back! It is an aluminum unpainted frame, vector bars, araya rims with comp 3 tires and is in very good condition. All it needs is a seat and number plate and it is ready to race. Any interest?
