REPRODUCTIONS:   Raleigh Sprite posted by: Jennifer on 10/4/2000 at 10:50:23 AM
My husband bought a bike at a liquidation sale and subsequently saw an article in the paper about that bike at that sale selling for very little, when in fact it had quite a value. He just wanted a bike to ride with the kids and liked it. It's a reproduction Raleigh Sprite. The only other marking other than the emblem, etc. is TI Raleigh 20-30. Would any one know anything about the value of this bike?

The Raleigh Sprite is a popular model made by England's biggest
bicycle maker. It is not very rare or valuable. People put too
much stress on money value anyway. It is a nice old bike, have
fun riding it and take care of it and it will reward you with
years of faithful service.

Yeah, me too. I've still got the original shipping box with their address in my shop. Next Friday I will be going out there. I could post it here or E-Mail it to you. I haven't written to them yet due to lack of time, but will in the next few weeks. I( hope to be able to order some much needed parts for one of my aqua engines. The other one (brand new) tops out at around 20 M.p.H. on the flat. Not as fast as I would prefer, but still a real kick in the pants to ride!

Is that the same engine as is mounted on the Sting-Ray on the "for sale" section of this site (there are pictures)? The ad says the front for is from a JC Higgins and the motor is a Sears.

Yup! That's it alright...
I was clocked in the parking lot at work doing 20 M.P.H.
It's a kick to ride, although I like the Zipper I had better. It went faster.

I just started working on an Aquabug 1.2 HP motor that I purchased around 1980. I have the original owner's manual with the part numbers but I don't know if they are in business still. It still runs good but needs some cosmetic parts. Do you know if Aquabug International is still in business?

The Aquabug boat autboard boat motor used and engine made by Olsen and Rice. O&R has been out of business for over 20 years and so is Aquabug. I'm surprised that no one has built a similar product. They weren't much more than a weed wacker with a prop.

BTW, drop me a line if you want to sell it.

Those are very nice seats. I have them on most of my 50's restored bikes. Even have one on my Whizzer. I get mine from Memory Lane.

I have one of the seats on my restored Monark Supertwin
and its a duplicate of the original that was on it in 1949
Same branding in the leather and very comfortable.
Bought it at Ridable Bicycle Replicas Inc. in Alameda, Ca.
$65.00 with shipping.
Any Supertwin fans out there?

I have a good running good shape Tas Spitz and thought I would put it up for sale so it can end up with a collector of this type item and not just ruined or worn out and discarded. My problem is what's the fair price on this creature?
Please drop me and email with any info at all,
Thanks Tyla.

I just purchased a J.C. Higgins (24", Middleweight)With a 'Little Devil Brand' motor kit. It mounts over the front wheel. I really need a manual or some info Because some of the mounting bracket and engageing parts are missing.
Has anyone else seen or heard of these? Do you have info or literature corncerning this? Can anyone help me out? I would be very grateful for any help or info.
Also, Has anyone tried the Dimension edge motor kits? What is your opinion of the kit, performance, and company? How about Island Hopper? Am considering both companies and would appreciate any feedback + or -.
Thanks in advance for your help,

Me again,
I just purchased an AquaBug motor. It turns out this is the same EXACT motor as the little devil brand i was inquiring about. Anybody know anything about Aquabug international? Are they willing to sell parts for their products, is there any sort of customer service or support?
Would like to know a little before i call all the way to N.Y. from the west.
Thanks,
Rif

HELP, I am new at bike collecting and I think I found a real treasure. It's a late 40's early 50's looking schwinn. Serial #SP54xxx. It has a two stroke twin cyclinder motor marked "Marman", Serial #6xx. It's been in a shed for 44 years and is in fair condition. Motor appears in good condition. Do you know what I have and what it's worth. Thanks, Steve

MOTORIZED BICYCLES:   Motorized scooters???? posted by: Mike Quigley on 8/11/2000 at 5:08:27 PM
Does this forum include discussions about motorized scooters? If not, please excuse. If so, here goes…

I'd like to hear some chit-chat about Viza vs. Mosquito motorized scooters. I just bought new Viza Venom, and I've discovered that both the scooter and the Viza Company come up short in several ways:

Firstly, the scoot arrived with just about everything lose or out of adjustment. It's a good thing I'm mechanically proficient and a bicycle mechanic or I'd be out of luck. By out of luck I mean don't count on any support from Viza. You're on your own. Service after the sale is nonexistent. Even if you can get a real person to answer their "technical help line," they don't seem to know much, and care even less.

Secondly, the motor on my scoot is very susceptible to overheating and vapor lock in temperatures above 90 degrees F. Again, no help from Viza despite letters, phone calls and e-mails.

With that, I'm considering getting rid of my Venom and getting a Mosquito. Anyone have experience with Mosquito scooters?

My father gave my kids an AMF Roadmaster motorbike. I don't know too much about it except that it has a 1hp motor. Where can I find information about it? To be more specific, I would like to know how old it is and if it is worth anything. If anyone has information, I'd greatly appreciate an e-mail. Thanks!
