WANTED:   WANTED: Vintage Trek touring bike posted by: Eric Nye on 5/19/2010 at 6:55:05 PM
Wanted: Vintage Trek touring bike of the 420, 520, 620, 720 series, lugged frame with 24-inch (61 cm) seat tube (center to top). I have a 1984 420 that I bought new in '84 from a showroom with all the above models available. Wish now I had bought a higher-quality frame. No disrespect to the 420 intended; it is still my favorite bicycle to ride.

I have a 1979 710 with original light green paint. The original 27" wheels have been replaced with 700's with 30mm gran bois tires. I installed new dura ace bar end shifters and ultegra double crank with brooks saddle and nitto bottle holder and bar and stem. Have $1,200 invested invested in this bike, might be more than you want to spend.

Hi,
Try contacting Derek Folgate at info@oldbiketrader.co.uk in England. Has LOTS of NOS Raleigh parts, bits and pieces and the shipping and delivery time from England is reasonable and fast. If he doesn't have it, he can probably put you on to someone who does.

Hope this helps--good luck!

I was just given 2 huffy Highlander 3 bicycles. A mens and a woman's. They are like new. They are both 3 speeds. Mens has a light and a bell. Woman's has a light. Where can I find more information on these bikes. Thank you.

Begin by determining where the three-speed hubs were manufactured. This will give a good indication of the era of the bikes' manufacture. If they are Sturmey-Archer they'll have a date on them. Shimano hubs came into use in the 70s and may have a date code.
If they're from elsewhere, get back to us... preferably with pictures of the shifters, the pedal cranks etc. you can post or email.

I have a Heidemann-Works Hanover bike its pink very rusted. I thought it maybe of some value to a collector or something so I was looking for more information on this bike. Says it was made in western Germany. Please contact me if you have some information because a simple google search didn't find anything.

I have a HWH bike too and could not find much info. Heidemann still makes bikes from what I found. They do not have much value because they are kind of obscure in the US. I picked up mine for $20 in good shape. They are a good quality bike but not easy to sell. Good luck

Ken, I will try my local bike shop, but the threading is different then standard "English." Not sure my local bike shops have inventory from/for old Raleighs, but I will give it a shot.

Still would like to order from an old shop, used, or NOS; don't care so long as they are the correct nut/bolt.

If anyone, has them around. I will pay $$. Thanks!

There are people on the Roadster page who never post on this page, who would certainly know which thread you need and maybe have spares.
