FOR SALE:Schwinn cruiser frame posted by: alan sablan on 12/2/2009 at 10:31:46 AM
I have a old cruiser frame and cant figure out what Model it is. I want to build it up to what ever model it was. The serial number is A62304 on the rear drop out. I purchased it on ebay and the seller has no idea if it was a Typhoon. Tiger, Corvette etc. Can someone help me find out what it is ? If its even possible. Thank you

You can't determine the model from the serial number.
Have a look at the Typhoons, Corvettes, etc in the Picture Database here at OldRoads.com

Just like if you had bought it new, you get to decide how to outfit it.
First off, it may be a '53 according to the Oldroads number list. Here's a list of what was available:
http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1951_1960/1953.html
Do you have a cantilever frame? Phantom, Streamliner (B6), Leader, Meteor
if not- (straight bar or?) Panther, Hornet, Spitfire
...and that's assuming it wasn't rebadged; various combinations of accessories could be and were ordered.
Corvette and Tiger are both middleweights introduced in the '55 model year.
Typhoon doesn't appear on the price list until 1962.
All this thanks to Tom Findley, a serious expert & collector.

Ha, i had one of those! sadly mum never took a snap of me on it so i have no image of it, but once in a blue moon i look around online for one. haven't found one yet, weird. they seem so rare... anyhow, i just found a nearly identical one on Craigslist NYC (where i live) but this is a Murray and i recall the bike being a Huffy... hope that helps. good luck on your search, i'll pop back here if i come across one. cheers!

WANTED:Royal Enfield posted by: Hannah Bill on 11/23/2009 at 5:56:13 PM
Hi!

My Dad lent me his pride and joy - a bike he got on his 17th Birthday - and it got stolen. While I think time has healed that particular wound, I'd love to track down a replacement from that era (1970s I guess). Please let me know if you have to sell or know someone who does!

Many thanks,

Hannah
