Looking to buy a 36 hole (not 32 not 40) Raleigh Sports chrome steel rim. (26 x 1 3/8). I'm looking for the type that came with these bikes stock-- the "Westrick" pattern rim. Need not be NOS, but does need to be presentable enough to clean up well and look nice on the whole.

FOR SALE:   1955 Raleigh Sports for Sale posted by: Aaron on 9/14/2009 at 3:12:48 PM
Hi Folks,

I have a 1955 Raleigh Sports three speed available...working dynohub, working original SA front light...rear light would probably work with a good cleaning and has a new bulb. New tires, new brake pads, recently completed hub adjustments and new indicator chain. original fenders, original reflector. Very good garage kept condition with minimal rust. Has a Rudge chain ring...this was not a replacement and was original with the bike. Non-original, non-leather brooks saddle.

Looking for 250 OBO.

Hi,

Is your bike still available for sale? If so, can you send me some photos? Also, where it is located and if shipping to California is available.

Thanks,
Andy

I'm new to the site...how do I email you photos? I can ship to California, but it would run about 75ish dollars (I think).

WANTED:   RALEIGH or VINTAGE ARMSTRONG posted by: PAT on 9/13/2009 at 7:48:12 PM
Ah...AUTUMN. The crisp air at night and the last warm days of summer, the leaves starting to turn a rainbow of colors just waiting to be photographed, the path less traveled calls out to me. And I STILL don't have a bike! WAH!

Okay, I am looking for a vintage (1960-1975 era) English 3-speed Ladie's bicycle, RALEIGH or ARMSTRONG if possible. I'm a short little cuss (5'2" on my better days) and would like a 16" frame; I'm told that's what the Space Riders are (were?) for "easy on and off". I'm talking the whole deal of fenders, chain guards, COASTER and HAND BRAKES. I can do some cleaning up and new tires, tubes but, financially, I'm not up to a complete restoration jobbie.

Can somebody help me with a nice bike? Maybe an idea of where to look (besides craigslist.org)? I'm just outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Many thanks!
PAT

Come to the annual Trexlertown Antique/Classic bicycle swap meet on Sunday, October 4th. It's easy to find, right at the intersection of Route 100 and 222 at the fire house. (Goodwill Fire Company) Just a short drive from Philly. (1 hour maybe?)
Get there early as some of the dealers will grab up nice Brit bikes quickly.

P- Do not know size. Wife is 5'3. She bought it new.
Do not know how we would ever get bike to you. Perhaps before pics, discussing price, you should call either of us. It is possible too much trouble to send in view of amt of $ involved.

YES! I went to the Trexlertown meet today (Oct 10) and, Jeff, you were right. Scads of bikes and someone from a big bike store in Philadelphia scooped up lots of the nice British bikes I was seeking.[sound of teeth gnashing]. Next stop, that bike shop in Philadelphia, I guess. Live and learn.

FOR SALE:   bike for sale posted by: Paulette on 9/13/2009 at 4:16:48 PM
We have for sale, a Duomatic Mustang CCM boys bike. My husband had it when he was a young boy. Not sure what it's worth. It has the high handle bars & a banana seat. We also have a ladys bike for sale, the kind without-the bar across where a lady hops on & it has a basket. Not sure of the price for that one either.

Ron, how did you determine the year? I don't think the catalog shows any 26" bikes with 1 3/4 tires that early.

Ken is right -- middleweight Schwinns weren't produced until about 1956. I'm thinking that the Debutante was late '50s or maybe very early '60s.
