Sounds like a Skyway TA. Do a Google search for that and you should come up with plenty of pictures.

Yeah it looks just like that! Although I don't think it has those popouts on the forks and rear drop out - that look a bit like crocdiles if you know what I mean? Is that a defining character of skyways - did they make a model without them?

FOR SALE:   2 Old Schwinn One-speeds,coaster brakes $40ea posted by: Sue on 8/16/2009 at 12:05:26 PM
2 Mens old Schwinn (possibly 50's) one speed, bendix USA coaster brake, 1 and 3/8 inch wheels. Both red, ride well, brake perfectly. One needs a few spokes. Sturdy, heavy frames. These are rugged, reliable "old clunkers"- great on rough city streets. I hate to part with them, but am getting older and for my own safety, I am planning to get a women's frame. I can email photo.

It's almost certainly 27x1 1/4. I had an Azuki that was.
To make sure, you can take one wheel to the local bike shop and ask. Won't cost a dime to ask, and they may have just what you want. Or you can learn about bead seat diameter from Sheldon Brown at
http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html
and measure it yourself. Or you might even find a stamp on the rim; some of them have it.
Does your Azuki have forged dropouts?

RE:RE:RE:WANTED:   azuki 10 spd tires posted by ken on 8/17/2009 at 12:36:40 PM
Sheldon Brown identifies Azuki as a "house brand of Louisville Cycle and Hobby"
http://sheldonbrown.com/japan.html#azuki
so there's no assurance even that Azukis all came from the same manufacturer. The interesting thing is that Japanese bike-boom bikes could be fairly nice, depending on the price you wanted to pay; hence my question above, Does your Azuki have forged dropouts? Another easy way to judge quality is by weight. A complete 10-speed of that era under 25 pounds is pretty good.

WANTED:   Elswick Hopper preferrably Lincoln Imp posted by: Gwenn (Boston area) on 8/10/2009 at 7:41:54 AM
This is a long shot, but I found out my husband's great grandfather worked at Elswick Hopper building bikes through the 50s and his grandfather had a shop in town (Barton on Humber) where he sold them and Raleighs through the 70s or so. The family got rid of the couple Raleigh Carriers in the barn that he can remember and probably a few other gems, like an Elswick. Anyway, on a long shot, I'm hoping someone might help me reunite my husband with his heritage. He's also a huge fan of the Lincoln Imp in the Lincoln Cathedral, so that would be really appropriate. Ideally around a 23" frame.

RE:RE:RE:MISC:   wondering about arnold-schwinn varsity posted by jj on 8/10/2009 at 3:31:38 AM
There are 5 Varsitys listed in one of the price guides and about 80 Varsitys listed in the other.
That serial number decodes to 1977, which sounds right for that tire size.
