WANTED:   Hercules Synchro Shifter wanted... posted by: damon on 8/7/2009 at 12:51:35 PM
looking for a working Hercules "Synchro Shifter" for my 40's Hercules Sports Model. This is the round looking 3 speed shifter that went with their own Hercules made 3 speed hubs, not the "hercumatic" shifter that SA made.

Cheers,

Hello,

I was just looking at an old photo album and see a picture of me and my twin brother on our birthday out in front of our house standing proudly next to our brand new 1976 Huffy thunder storm bikes. I loved that bike (I'm 41 years old now) and would love to find one to display. The front plate was a blue square with a white # 76 on it and a red and white trimmed Thunder storm above the 76. Just above the plate was a silver or white reflector. Can you send a pic of the bike and are you gonna sell?

I live in Michigan.

Thanks

Troy

WANTED:   1950's Columbia Tandem guide pulley posted by: Paul on 8/6/2009 at 10:56:29 AM
I just acquired a Columbia Tandem from a friend. All it needed was air in the tires. After a few short rides I noticed I lost the guide pulley that attached to a spring loaded tensioner. Can someone tell me where I can find a new or decent used pulley for this bike?

Thanks,

Paul

FOR SALE:   Ross unique 1970 handlebars posted by: Bill on 8/5/2009 at 8:15:39 AM
In 1970 I owned a 20" Ross banana bike with very unique styled handlebars. Sort of a half moon one piece is all i can do to describe it, they didnt have a typical stem but in its place had a sort of triple tree arrangement. If anyone knows what this bike was or has any pictures I'd eventually like to find another some day.

Hub shiners! Can't sell any, but I'll testify- they buttoned together with a small reflector, maybe 1" diameter, which came in different colors.
Memory Lane apparently doesn't have any, but they still list them on their accessories page. They do have a modern equivalent with a light in it, and a plastic strap...

You can make one from a piece an old leather belt, a bolt and a nut. A license plate bolt/reflector looks cooler than a nut and bolt, though.

RE:FOR SALE:   Axle Leather straps with reflectors posted by johann on 8/6/2009 at 10:50:44 PM
Grandpa made me a few of these with leather strap-perhaps 1" wide and 9" long and 1/8" thick. No need for nut or bolt...just slit a small hole(1/2" in length)veritically 1" from one end and pull the other end of the strap thru slit. Leave 1"-1&1/2" hanging out of hole...gravity will due the rest!!! Quick, simple, cheap, and no metal on metal contact to mar the finish.

Shannon, more information is needed to determine what you need. What type of hub have you got? Have you asked your local shop? Do you have pictures of the bike? Email me if you like.

MISC:   Vintage Bicycle inventory coming to OldRoads posted by: Vin - Menotomy Vintage Bicycles at OldRoads.com on 7/27/2009 at 5:47:19 PM

We don't ship during the cycling season, BUT!, we've put together a deal with a Massachusetts bike shop who DOES ship and who DOES NOT use da web!.

We will be posting their vintage inventory here.
They are a family-owned shop selling Schwinn, Raleigh and other makes for over 50 years. The depth of their inventory is amazing, I leave drooling every time I visit.
High end road bikes, Schwinn Sting-Ray Krates, Raleigh Tourists and Sports 3-speeds, big old balloon tire bikes - they have them all.
So, watch this space. I'm hoping to get it going this week, if I can get my daughter to help me...
