WANTED:   Raleigh Tourist posted by: Chris Barker on 7/16/2009 at 6:13:21 AM
I would like to purchase a Raleigh Tourist or similar type of bike with rod brakes. My old Raleigh Sports had a 23" frame. I'm not quite sure how that translates to a bike with 28" wheels but will need the appropriate frame size. I am only interested in a bike in very fine condition.

I just bought a Dunelt frame from someone in town and I am looking to build it into a modern singlespeed road bike. Can anyone help me with dimensions because I have modern wheelsets with fixed/freewheel cogs already but they will not fit. If anyone has already done this it would be great to get some pointers, pictures, and parts lists. THANKS so much!

MISC:   Lines Bros (Canada Ltd) Thistle bicycle posted by: Karen Block on 7/13/2009 at 11:55:13 AM
Went looking for an old bicycle to use as a garden ornament. Found a red & white Lines Bros (Canada Ltd) Thistle ladies bicycle in pretty good shape. Some rust and a tear on the seat. Don't want to essentially destroy it, if it is a true find. Only found the year Lines Bros founded their Canada branch (1947)on the Internet. Does anyone know anything about these bicycles?

You'll need to know your existing chain width. Whether it's derailleur chain or one/three speed type, you can get it locally, and you'll probably need most of three regular chains. If you have the old chain you can count the number of links you'll need.
Rim replacement depends on esthetic as well as engineering considerations. On my old tandem, I found it much more practical to replace both wheels with modern ones using stainless spokes and alloy rims, but I had to pay some attention to hub width (OLD).

The Chicago numbers are posted on this site.
Your Typhoon is a '74, your Twinn is a '66, and the LeTour III was apparently only offered in '78- see

WANTED:   Schwinn Stingray Fair Lady posted by: Drusilla on 7/8/2009 at 5:50:15 PM
I am looking for a Schwinn Stingray Fair Lady in radiant coppertone with if possible a silver metalic banana seat and hand grips. This is the bike my sister had and I fell in love with in 1978. I have no idea what year hers was or mind what year a bike like this one is. If anyone even has any pictures of a bike like this I would love to see them or any other information on this bike.
Much appreciated help.

I think you're looking for a 66 or 67'. Those are the only years that I remember the Fair Lady coming in coppertone.
